My mate's just turned 50, a placid easy going soul, his son's U17's side based in Slough were playing a village side from rural ever so posh South Bucks, out in the 'villages'. One of his lads lost the plot after being fouled, he squared up and then went mental and tried to whack the kid who had kicked him. The ref sent him off, the kid walked, one of the opponents said something else which may or may have been racist (the lad wouldn't say but his reaction indicates it may have been) but whatever it was it worked and it all kicked off again. My mate is team manager, he ran onto the pitch, broke up up the row and escorted his lad off the pitch chatting in his ear to calm him down. Then it all went off again and this lad ran back on the pitch to attack just about everybody who wanted to take him on, my mate ran on the pitch again and got the lad in a head lock, he described it as 'trying to hold on to a mini Marvin Hagler', he dragged the lad off the pitch AGAIN and tried to calm him down AGAIN, which he sort of did until one of the opposition called him a name AGAIN and he went back on the pitch AGAIN, so for the third time my peace loving mate has a grappling match whilst trying to calm a powerful teenager with no help at all from any of the parents (I can vouch from experience those feckers never get involved unless it's their son). He eventually gets him off the pitch again and is restraining him in a head lock when an old dear in a tweed skirt comes up brandishing a brolly and tells him straight.

'You're not fit to run a side, it's obvious you simply can't control your players, now you and your team clear off back to where you belong.
