for gods sake!

Yes we lost to the wancs, the russians and the blues****s at their grounds. Yes we are playing crap.

In perspective, we have had Gerrard, alonso, Carra, Hyppia and few others essentially play two consecutive HUGE seasons, followed by a world cup.

We also have in that time, bought heavily in the summers between.

This season, we have had Kuyt, Bellamy, Pennant, Gonzales, aurelio, agger and Sissoko all feature in the first team. How many of those played for us last season?

Add in the change in the way we play now we no longer have hamann, and with more flair and pace in the team and it gets difficult.

Throw in the fact this is one of the toughest starts to the season we have had in recent times.

Just for measure, include the international breaks and injuries, strains and knocks to key players.

How many other teams have had as many changes as we have?

I never expected us to win the title with a new forward line, and new wingers. It was always going to be tough.

I'm not saying I'm happy, but I do trust Rafa to fix it. The difference with other managers and this one, is that with Rafa, I believe he sees what we see. THerefore he sees the problem. Give them a chance.

Spot on mate.

We have good players and probably the best manager in football. For those who think they know better needs to have their heads examined.

a coincidence or not...

when Houllier lost his main man behind the scenes...patrice bergues, everything basically collapsed and we went downhill..

Rafa lost his main man behind the scenes in the summer....now we look a complete mess

From what I understand, Houllier never did much coaching, left most of the hands on stuff to his head coaches, Bergues, and then Crevoisier(?), and Damiano. Herrera, who you are referring to as being Rafa's 'man behind the scenes', was not Rafa's assistant, he was his chief scout. To draw parallels between the two departures and the effect they have on the team following them is total nonsence. People are just looking for excuses and reasons to explain our form, and find anything they can, no matter how tenous to explain it. Anything and anyone can become a scapegoat- the players, manager, board, rotation, systems, the list of scapegoats is endless! The reality is, the problems that Growler pointed out are definitely perinant in explaining our current form, as well as, I believe, a lack of genuine quality in attacking areas. Benitez is a top quality boss and he is the best qualified person to get the best out of this team.
