  20. They may not be responsible in the sense that if there is a default by one company the other cannot be attacked but that does not mean that the cost of the borrowing cannot be passed on - which is exactly what is happening. The current model is unsustainable. End. Of. Story. It is just a matter of time as to whether the banks pull the plug, the owners sort out better financing (haha) or they have to sell to pay back what they cannot service.
  21. While agreeing and following much of what you say the actual reality is different. The repayments due to our lenders were more than the income streams created by the Club. The only way that the owners were able to make the payments was by injecting further funds into the group companies from the Cayman Island company. And although we don't yet know there must be little doubt that the injection of those funds will have come at a price in terms of the group companies being responsible for interest on the injected funds.
  22. Last year's accounts showed that the Club did not generate sufficient income to pay the interest on all of the loans, never mind starting to pay back any capital.
  23. If the owners had obtained new terms there is little doubt they would have crowed about it as soon as they could. It is not easy to answer the question about purchase price but if Wachovia refused to refinance then it would have some implication for the value of the Club, in a downward direction no doubt.
  24. Spirit of Shankly have received credible reports today that US Bank Wachovia are seriously considering not refinancing the loans due to the Club and its holding companies. While this does not mean that they will refuse to refinance in the next week or so it does show that despite RBS’s response to our members that they as a UK based bank are prepared to offer continued assistance a US bank is far from convinced.
  25. The Spirit of Shankly have released the minutes of the Extraordinary General Meeting that took place on 11th July 2009. They can be viewed at http://www.spiritofshankly.com/news/July-EGM-Minutes.html
