    FSG Watch...

Initial investment in NESV/FSG. This isn't the first time they've branched out though. Be surprised if Henry and Werner have enough of a shareholding to railroad the other partners as well.
  2. How do you sell a player without letting any other clubs know they're available?
  3. Or it's a a balance between what a player costs and what they bring to the squad.
  4. It's all over the show, What have FIFA got to do with anything? Why the frig are Google being brought in to it? Everything I've heard from UEFA makes me think they're serious about enforcing FFP. City might be testing the boundaries, but they're treating it seriously.
  5. Rafael's top quality is he? Which of the many Santos games you undoubtedly watched led you to that conclusion?
  6. It's just a rebuttal to the idea we should keep him as back up to Mignolet. It's obviously a poor use of our limited funds.
  7. Paying Reina £100k a week to sit on the bench is ludicrous. He'll still have two years on his contract when he returns so that's not a problem. By all accounts we're saving money on wages even if Napoli aren't paying the full whack as well. Unless something catastrophic happens, we'll end up better off financially for this move, The big question is whether Mignolet is good enough to justify us having a few quid to spend elsewhere in the squad. I'm still sceptical, but it's not as ridiculous a move as some would have. It's just very risky.
  8. It doesn't make perfect sense. You've just reiterated one of your mutually exclusive opinions. If we're pissing money away on a position that doesn't need improving, how does that signify FSG only care about the balance sheet? I understand the argument that this is a stupid and wasteful move - though I can see the opposite point of view too - but it's not a stick to beat the owners with.
  9. I seem to remember our summer signings in 2011 being done before a lot of sales. Comolli was patting himself on the back for convincing FSG to do it that way.
  10. I've got a theory that a lot of the people who complain about FSG were a bit late to realise what G&H were up to, so they're trying to make up for it by being ultra-critical of the new yanks. It's probably a load of b******s though - I certainly couldn't point to anyone specific.
  11. We've not released Reina on a free. We'll be expecting a fee next season. If you think this is costing us money and you don't get why people are trying to justify this as saving money, why are you criticising FSG for managed decline and only caring about the balance sheet?
  12. When you say they don't have the resources, you're saying they're not going to put their own money in. Which they aren't, and if FFP is implemented correctly they can't. We're competing against richer clubs than us, so we have to spend our money as wisely as possible. That means questioning whether the £100k+ we pay Reina each week is the best use of that money. We're still feeling the effects of G+H. Particularly, we're struggling because we're not in the Champions League. You might think that FSG are a load of yank pricks on the make, but ultimately they want the same as us: for Liverpool to be one of the best teams in the world. Not because they've fallen in love with the club, but because they'll make a f***ing fortune on their initial investment.
  13. We have a budget. Reina is a great keeper, but it's not inconceivable that we'd be better off with Mignolet + whoever we buy with the money we save. I think it's a risky move, but not one that implies managed decline or asset stripping. I think FSG are a lot wiser than they were two years ago. Appointing Comolli was a f*** up made by people who didn't have the knowledge to question those that were recommending him. They're past that now.
  14. City goal wasn't a mistake. If you're talking about Bale's free kick for Spurs, that wasn't a mistake either.
  15. Managers lie. When they're asked a question, getting the truth through to Chewie is way down their list of priorities.
