Injured Jones to miss final Test

 

Jones is a key component of England's bowling attack

England paceman Simon Jones will miss the final Ashes Test at The Oval after failing a fitness check on his injured right ankle.

Jones, who has taken 18 wickets in the series, will be replaced by either James Anderson or Paul Collingwood.

 

"He underwent a fitness test at Lord's under the supervision of (physio) Kirk Russell," said an ECB spokesman.

 

"It just involved light jogging on the outfield and he was still experiencing pain and discomfort."
