Superjay Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Routledge chase hotting up Crystal Palace have confirmed that Tottenham have made a bid - thought to be £1.5m - for unsettled winger Wayne Routledge. Routledge, 20, has been closely monitered by Spurs ever since their £3m bid was rejected in August. However, since Routledge turned a five-year contract down at Palace it is believed Eagles manager Iain Dowie will listen to offers despite valuing Routledge at £4m. Eagles director of football Bob Dowie told the London Evening Standard: "We had an enquiry from Spurs and they asked to be kept informed of Wayne's situation." Spurs boss Martin Jol is keen to add another winger to his squad and improve the service to his strikeforce. Routledge has not yet made up his mind about which club to join, although a Spurs move would allow him to remain in the capital. Reports suggest Birmingham, plus an other, as yet unnamed Premiership club, are also monitoring developments and it seems a move for the highly-rated winger could be on the cards before the end of the January transfer window.
Guest Sabre Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 YNWA said last week that we were involved.
robfar1 Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Word amongst a few Palace fans I've spoken to (as I now live down in S. London) is that he's off to Spurs this month. We'd be better off with Malbranque anyway.
