i've got a Canon 400D and i've been volunteered (!!) by my missus to take photo's at her mate's wedding reception this evening.. i was supposed to be going anyway and was looking forward to a good bev but now i've got to 'work'!

anyway, i was at a wedding of another friend a few weeks ago and the photographer was using a hot-shoe flashgun - even during the day.. i thought that might over-expose images but seemingly not.. i've got myself a hotshoe flash now for tonight so i can make the pics look as professional as possible for the couple..

anyhoo - my question is this: will having the hot-shoe flashgun on my 400D use up the battery life quicker? the flashguns got 4AA batteries in it anyway but the 400D must be sending a signal thorugh to it to tell it when to flash so therefore it must be using up my battery life - but how much? i don't have a spare battery unfortunately and don't want to fall short and run out of battery life and miss some potentially good shots..

thanks in advance! :)
