Computer problem - CRC error

Lately I have often encountered a Cyclic Redundancy Check error when downloading files off the net. Just now I managed to download an .iso file without any problem but instead my CD-burning program complains about CRC-error instead.

 

Does it have anything to do with the fact that i'm quite low on disk space and the HD might be slightly fragmented?

 

Anyone in the know-how, please?
