Hobbs, Lindfield, Hammill, Darby for England and Brouwer for Holland at the Ricoh in Cov.

Hobbs played alright. Very strong in the air - didn't lose a header all night.

Lindfield played up front on his own (stupid tactics) and got none of the ball. Got subbed after about 70 and worked hard.

Hammill didn't start. Came on quite early though for Fabrice Muamba (captain and easily our best player). Looked lively and was one of our best players. Sometimes tried difficult things which didn't come off but very confident with the ball at his feet.

Darby came on at right back late on - very slight!

Brouwer started up front on his own for the Dutch. Had one good chance when he took the ball round the keeper and then contrived to miss from 3 yards. Got subbed late on. Worked hard and has a decent touch but looked slow. He set up the goal.

Best players on the night were Michael Mancienne (Chelsea) and Hogan Ephraim (West Ham) who scored a pearler of a consolation late on. Ephraim then promptly got himself sent off for a bad lunge.

The Dutch were accomplished as you'd expect.

The worst player on the pitch was our number 17, Rossi Jarvis of Norwich City. Did feck all during the game except miss a very easy chance. Wasn't involved, hardly touched the ball, didn't really have a position. Must say though that the England manager got his tactics all wrong on the night.
