  1. All these crazy prices for players have made me think about the true value ofour team, its bloody massive.

    .................Pepe (25m)............

    Johnson (20m) Carra (15m) Skrtle (20m) Aurelio (10m)

    Dirk (15m) Mash (45m?) Xabi (45m?) TBC (25m)

    .............................Gerrard (50m).............................

    ..............................Torres (65m)..............................

    Grand total........ 335 million.

  2. For years now I've been a firm believer that a player's peak years are no longer 28-32 but more like 24-28. The game is so much faster & more athletic these days.

In fact that age range is lowering each couple of seasons. Give it 5 years and players will be reaching that 'slowing down, veteran' stage at 24.

Gerrard has maybe 2 seasons as the all-explosive, combative, deep partner for Nando before he needs to be looking at a Hamann/Makalele effortless role in defensive midfield or centreback.

I agree. I believe the peak is mid 20's and 29 is the start of the slow decline. Not saying it will be like that for Stevie, i hope it won't. It's especially the case for teenagers who achieve a lot at 17-18. By their late 20's they have been playing for over 10 years. Just look at Owen and Fowler.

  3. Play the kids at Stamford Bridge and take the first teamers on a break to be fresh for a league push.

You can't be serious? A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUATER FINALE and everyone is talking like it's just the league cup and it's all over and doesn't even matter. Yes it was bad, yes our chances are slim, yes it would take something spectacular to see us through but to just give up? Not our way. If we can put 4 past Utd at OT then there is no reason we can't score an early goal at Stamford Bridge and after that, well anything can happen.

  4. We will bottle it, as usual.

All well and good when the pressure's off, but get a bit close and our collective rear-ends pucker up tighter than a snare drum.

    Players and fans.

Hate to say it but it's so true. Seen it more times than i can count over the last 15 years or so. The Coventry games around this time back in 97 was the worst

  5. Porto V Liverpool

    Bayern V Villareal

    other side of the draw

    Chelsea V Arsenal

    Mancs V Barca

that'd do nicely won't happen though!!

    Yes please!

Though i wouldn't mind Bayern. Their really the only prestigious club along with UTD we haven't played (and as a result beaten) in the CL since Rafa got here.

Real, AC Milan, Juve, Inter, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barca, etc - Been there, done that :bleh:

  6. Reina, Aurelio, Arbeloa, Carragher, Skrtel, Riera, Benayoun, Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, Kuyt.

Subs: Cavalieri, Dossena, Hyypia, Gerrard, Lucas, Babel, Ngog.

  7. I wouldn't dismiss it. At Valencia, Rafa had made them into one of the best teams in Europe, won the Spanish league twice in 3 years as well as the UEFA Cup and by all accounts, the CL was next. However he wasn't happy with the interference from the board and things behind the scenes and so quit. He joined a stable club with a reputation for being one of the last "family" clubs where things were done properly and where the fans and board would always back the manager. Now almost 5 years later, things here behind the scenes are much worse than they ever were at Valencia. The club is a shambles off the pitch, he's trying to fix it but they won't let him. There might just come a point where he thinks it's more trouble than it's worth.

  8. This is starting to remind me of 2002. We finish second with a haul of points that would have been good enough to win the league in any season but the one we are playing in because the team ahead are playing like a freak of nature. Then it was Arsenal, this time it's the Mancs.

  9. Sign for £20.3m. Sell for £12m 6 months later.

At least one thing can be said for Krusty and that's that he is consistent.
