<p>
	This is because the developers of the software have decided to be invasive with asking users where they are so that they can show the user events which are near them...even though there are none that are actually configured with a location that would help here.
</p>

<p>
	They say they are going to change it, until then just hit Allow (if you wish) or Block (if you wish)

<p>
	The eagle-eyed amongst you may have seen an "<strong>Invision Communities</strong>" application appear on Google Play recently. <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.invisioncommunity.communities&amp;hl=en_GB" rel="external nofollow">The app</a> is developed by the company who develop the software on which this site runs, and is an alternative to the hideous Tapatalk software which I've resisted making available for this site.
</p>

<p>
	For a site to be accessible from this new app, it is required that the site be running Invision Community 4.5 (which is currently in beta testing) - at present, YNWA is not running Invision Community 4.5 but the site will be upgraded to this version not long after release.
</p>

<p>
	When the site has been updated to Invision Community 4.5, and has been submitted to Invision for inclusion in the app, I will update this post to reflect that.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Note: An iOS version of the application is currently in beta testing.</strong>
</p>

<p>
	The upgrade software has the ability to use a feature called 'oembed' to automatically embed content from this site as well as other sites, such as Youtube, Twitter, Facebook and so on. To use this feature, simply paste a valid URL for the content in to a post - do not create a link, or copy an existing link.<br>
	 <br>
	What is a valid URL? It's the plain text information that is in the address bar of the browser.<br>
	What is a link? <a data-ipb="nomediaparse" href="http://www.ynwa.tv" rel="">This is a link.</a><br>
	 <br>
	If the source website supports oembed, and the IPS software supports that website, then the content will be embedded.<br>
	 <br><strong>Some examples are as follows</strong>
</p>

<p>
	The url <span ipsnoautolink="true"><strong>https://www.ynwa.tv/topic/162539-20192020/?do=findComment&amp;comment=4458479</strong> will produce:</span>

<p>
	Plugins &amp; Application are the available methods of extending the functionality of the site software.
</p>

<p>
	Here is a listing of the plugins which are currently installed on the site - the (NE) ones have been developed by me:
</p>

<ol><li>
		<strong>(NE) oembedServices management (currently disabled - needs some updating)</strong>

		<ul><li>
				Provides additional control over the use of the <a href="https://www.ynwa.tv/topic/162742-how-do-i-embed-content-from-another-site/" rel="">content embedding</a> functionality, allowing me to add additional oembed endpoints to the list supported by the site software
			</li>
		</ul></li>
	<li>
		<strong>(NE) Collapse sidebar block (currently disabled - needs some updating)</strong>
		<ul><li>
				Adds a toggle button to the blocks in the sidebar, allowing them to be collapsed down to just the header for the block
			</li>
		</ul></li>
	<li>
		<strong>(NE) Mention list enhancements</strong>
		<ul><li>
				Adds additional information to the <a href="https://www.ynwa.tv/topic/162746-how-do-i-mention-somebody/" rel="">mention</a> functionality
			</li>
			<li>
				Adds additional controls to the <a href="https://www.ynwa.tv/topic/162746-how-do-i-mention-somebody/" rel="">mention</a> functionality
			</li>
		</ul></li>
	<li>
		<strong>(NE) Add 'Preview' button</strong>
		<ul><li>
				Adds a 'Preview' button below the editor to allow you to initiate a preview of your content.
			</li>
		</ul></li>
	<li>
		<strong>(NE) Unread icon for forum categories</strong>
		<ul><li>
				Adds an unread icon to collapsed forum categories on the site index page
			</li>
		</ul></li>
	<li>
		<strong>Back to top</strong>
		<ul><li>
				Little arrow icon which, when tapped, will scroll the page BACK TO THE TOP!!!
			</li>
		</ul></li>
	<li>
		<strong>Clear notifications</strong>
		<ul><li>
				Clears your notifications entirely, instead of waiting for them to be pruned over time
			</li>
			<li>
				Note: there is no reversal - click it at your peril
			</li>
		</ul></li>
	<li>
		<strong>(NE) Control signature display</strong>
		<ul><li>
				Disables the display of user signatures in certain forums and/or topics
			</li>
		</ul></li>
	<li>
		<strong>(NE) Quote enhancements</strong>
		<ul><li>
				Extends the "ignore posts" functionality to quoted content
			</li>
			<li>
				Allows user/admin control over the display of long quotes - either fully collapsed to the header only, truncated to between 1 and 7 lines of text or fully expanded.
			</li>
		</ul></li>

<ol><li>
		Go to <a href="https://www.ynwa.tv/ignore/" ipsnoembed="true" rel="">https://www.ynwa.tv/ignore/</a>
	</li>
	<li>
		Type the name of the user in to the relevant box
	</li>
	<li>
		Choose what you want to ignore (Posts, Messages, Signature or Mentions)
	</li>
</ol><p>
	<strong>What about quotes?</strong>
</p>

<p>
	At present, you can't - it's not part of the software.
</p>

<p>
	I have previously written a plugin which allows this functionality, but I need to update it to work with the current version of the forum software (was designed for an earlier version of this new design)
</p>

<p>
	You can now mention somebody in your posts, and that person will receive a notification that they have been mentioned in a post (yes, you can change that if you don't want to be notified)
</p>

<p>
	How to use it?
</p>

<p>
	Type @ and then the first few letters of the person's name, then click on that person's name in the resulting list.
</p>

<p>
	<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="436" data-ratio="76.52" data-unique="8g1rctpbg" width="328" alt="image.png" src="https://www.ynwa.tv/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" data-src="https://www.ynwa.tv/uploads/monthly_2020_02/image.png.fc279d95a03da93893b8adfda41bb96b.png"></p>

<p>
	<span>The above is the default display of the mention list - I have created and installed a plugin which modifies the listing to provide the following additional information:</span>
</p>

<ul><li>
		<span>Show if the user is currently online</span>
	</li>
	<li>
		<span>Show if the user has browser and/or email notifications enabled (dark icon = enabled; light icon = disabled)</span>
	</li>
	<li>
		<span>Show the user's group membership</span>
	</li>
</ul><p>
	<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="437" data-ratio="51.32" data-unique="u9mzdyrlx" width="491" alt="image.png" src="https://www.ynwa.tv/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" data-src="https://www.ynwa.tv/uploads/monthly_2020_02/image.png.b4af4f9e7b29222051bc1f574628e4c6.png"></p>

<p>
	Result: <a contenteditable="false" data-ipshover="" data-ipshover-target="https://www.ynwa.tv/profile/44-nathan-explosion/?do=hovercard" data-mentionid="44" href="https://www.ynwa.tv/profile/44-nathan-explosion/" id="ips_uid_9897_4" rel="">@Nathan Explosion</a>
</p>

<p>
	Note: being a cock with this functionality will result in you losing the ability to be able to use this functionality.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Reading</strong>
</p>

<p>
	I've installed a plugin which reduces the display of quotes down to a small number of lines, if needed. Simply click the 'Read more' link at the base of the quote to expand it back to full size
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Quoting</strong>
</p>

<ul><li>
		If you really need to quote an entire post then use the 'Quote' link under a post.
	</li>
	<li>
		If you need to quote multiple posts then click the + icon to the left of the 'Quote' link under each post, and then click the 'Quote X posts' button which will appear.
	</li>
	<li>
		If you only want to quote a small amount of text then highlight that small amount of text and then click on the 'Quote selection' button which appears.
	</li>
</ul><p>
	<strong>How to delete a quote</strong>
</p>

<p>
	See that + sign? Click it and press Delete or the backspace key.
</p>

<p>
	Tablet/Phone: on iPad/iPhone, tap the backspace key twice. On Android, there is a bug which doesn't clear it - this has been reported to Invision.
</p>
