The app is developed by the company who develop the software on which this site runs, and is an alternative to the hideous Tapatalk software which I've resisted making available for this site.

For a site to be accessible from this new app, it is required that the site be running Invision Community 4.5 (which is currently in beta testing) - at present, YNWA is not running Invision Community 4.5 but the site will be upgraded to this version not long after release.

When the site has been updated to Invision Community 4.5, and has been submitted to Invision for inclusion in the app, I will update this post to reflect that.

Note: An iOS version of the application is currently in beta testing.

To use this feature, simply paste a valid URL for the content in to a post - do not create a link, or copy an existing link.
 
What is a valid URL? It's the plain text information that is in the address bar of the browser.
What is a link? This is a link.
 
If the source website supports oembed, and the IPS software supports that website, then the content will be embedded.
 
Some examples are as follows

    • Provides additional control over the use of the content embedding functionality, allowing me to add additional oembed endpoints to the list supported by the site software
  2. (NE) Collapse sidebar block (currently disabled - needs some updating)
    • Adds a toggle button to the blocks in the sidebar, allowing them to be collapsed down to just the header for the block
  3. (NE) Mention list enhancements
    • Adds additional information to the mention functionality
    • Adds additional controls to the mention functionality
  4. (NE) Add 'Preview' button
    • Adds a 'Preview' button below the editor to allow you to initiate a preview of your content.
  5. (NE) Unread icon for forum categories
    • Adds an unread icon to collapsed forum categories on the site index page
  6. Back to top
    • Little arrow icon which, when tapped, will scroll the page BACK TO THE TOP!!!
  7. Clear notifications
    • Clears your notifications entirely, instead of waiting for them to be pruned over time
    • Note: there is no reversal - click it at your peril
  8. (NE) Control signature display
    • Disables the display of user signatures in certain forums and/or topics
  9. (NE) Quote enhancements
    • Extends the "ignore posts" functionality to quoted content
    • Allows user/admin control over the display of long quotes - either fully collapsed to the header only, truncated to between 1 and 7 lines of text or fully expanded.

    How to use it?

    Type @ and then the first few letters of the person's name, then click on that person's name in the resulting list.

    The above is the default display of the mention list - I have created and installed a plugin which modifies the listing to provide the following additional information:

    • Show if the user is currently online
    • Show if the user has browser and/or email notifications enabled (dark icon = enabled; light icon = disabled)
    • Show the user's group membership

    I've installed a plugin which reduces the display of quotes down to a small number of lines, if needed. Simply click the 'Read more' link at the base of the quote to expand it back to full size

    Quoting

    • If you really need to quote an entire post then use the 'Quote' link under a post.
    • If you need to quote multiple posts then click the + icon to the left of the 'Quote' link under each post, and then click the 'Quote X posts' button which will appear.
    • If you only want to quote a small amount of text then highlight that small amount of text and then click on the 'Quote selection' button which appears.

    How to delete a quote

    See that + sign? Click it and press Delete or the backspace key.

    Tablet/Phone: on iPad/iPhone, tap the backspace key twice. On Android, there is a bug which doesn't clear it - this has been reported to Invision.
