Guest DanTheDaggerman Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Has anyone else heard about the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill that is being moved through Parliament? There is an article on it here. It makes for very disturbing reading. The basic gist is that any minister will be able to change any law apart from imposing new taxes, creating new offenses with imprisonment terms of more than two years and authorising forced entry. Any existing legislation could be amended also, including the Bill itself. This is really scary stuff, the more you think about it. Like ID cards (and, in fact, worse than ID cards), imagine what future goverments could do with this legislation? There is a campaign called Save Parliament that has been set up to fight this. It urges people to write to their MP. You can see how your MP voted (if at all) using They Work For You. I never get political (and frankly, I think all politicians are self-serving b******s), but this has got me worried enough to write to my MP to see where they stand. I urge you all to do likewise.
