New Generation of football Fans

What is this obsession with playing the ball 5 yards - and anything other than a short pass - even those cleared from defence gets a 'HOOOOOF' from the less knowledgeable sections of the crowd (Except when their players are doing it - obviously)

 

Is it just a wind-up? Is it because they genuinely believe that any system other than dainty 5 yard passes is 'long ball'

 

The major 'culprits' seem to be Arsenal and Chelsea..
