Agree with the original list, but I'd actually say Dudek as well after Istanbul. He'll go down in Liverpool legend for all time, even if he never plays for us again.

Which players do you reckon will eventually go down as Liverpool legends in years to come?

I'd say Reina and Alonso myself...

More like Whelan IMO, an underrated player who's value to the team is rather greater than many people believe.

i always thought ronnie whelan was made to look better than he actually was because of how good the team was, like butt at united. He did score some screaming goals but he wasnt as good as people made him out to be.

You could probably say that about someone like Ray Houghton but Ronnie Whelan? Along with Barnes and Beardsley, he was one of the key players of Kenny's great side of the late 80's.

Well if scoring in a european cup final counts then Vladi deserves a mention.

Na, his constant under performing and s***tiness will never be forgotten. Still be mostly remembered for that goal though.

He scored in the ninety minutes and a penalty in the shoot out. All this knowing it was his last game for the club.

think the nail has been pretty much hit on the head early on here.

so what about recent (and recentish) departures? i'd say definitely gary mac and probably igor. for different reasons.

you left out the outstanding candidate in Michael Owen.

Possibly add Henchoz as well.

anyone care to say murphy?

Ronnie Whelan - The Makelele of his time. The most commented on underrated player of his generation. Not to say he wasn't brilliant - he was - but it's not exactly a secret.

Gerrard

Alonso

Reina

and Morientes after he scores the winner in the next CL final...

Reina will go down as one of our greatest keepers. I've had my ear clipped for saying he's our best keeper in 20 years but that's what i think.

Of recent years i think Didi, Hyypia, Carra, Gerrard, Owen, Fowler and Dudek will be remembered as legends and will probably be joined by Finnan and Xabi.

Gary Mac is another possible.
