Red Cards

we've had quite a few opposition players sent off against us this season, Saltieri being just the latest. Everton, Boro, Wigan are just a few other examples.

Does anyone this it's anything to do with the way we're playing, or are we just getting a bit fortunate?

I'd like to know how many players have been sent off against us this season, but don't really want to have to check every game. Does anyone know an easy way to find out?

think it may be to do with our keeping possession better. winds opponents up. plus we close them down and harass them far better now, as a unit. . .which also winds opponents up. plus we're beating teams more consistently which can wind opponents up. then there's our really good defence, which stops teams scoring and consequently winds opponents up, plus of course our annoyingly calm and serene manager, who probably winds opponents up.

so it's just coincidence i think.

you winding me up? ;)

In general, the referees have been handing out more red cards this season than in earlier seasons, but there might be something about the way we play the ball around quickly. Besides, Momo is there to annoy opponents and make them to silly things, such as Stalteri (was there any contact?).

But we have never scored when the opposition has lost a player, have we? So it's not really an advantage. Maybe we'd be better off if the opposition had to bring on an extra player if the team required a punishment. That would upset their plans and make it easier for us. "Liverpool beat 12-man (and the ref) United at Old Trafford" Make a good headline, wouldn't it?

I had an argument in the pub about Neville's sending off. The fan went off on one about Neville being a c*nt (correct) and being a vicious b*st*rd. I politely interjected that although I agreed with his former point I felt the foul was simply a case of our players being too quick and him being too slow. I was roundly shouted down on it by all nearby but I know I'm right.

We're playing quick one touch stuff now with a lot of quick movement (pass and go) and the slower players in our opponents teams are leaving themselves open to making sloppy fouls that can look bad (and often ARE bad).

In summary, its the way we're playing.

Oh, apart from Bolton, they are a bunch of animals, did anyone see them kicking lumps out of Blackburn on Saturday?

I think its partly to do with the possession that we have. We are a lot cleverer with the ball. all the players are comfortable taking two touches.

Also, anyone notice the number of fouls we actually give away? A lot less! Look at yellow and red for us, its a lot lower. With didi in the team, its lower still.

THATS impressive too.
