chelsea bid for simao and play monopoly game

"chelsea boss jose mourinho and their chief exective peter Kenyon say they are not afraid of liverpool.

but is they are so unflustered by the reds resurgence ,why have they allegedly offered around 15 million for benfica's simao

in an act of charitable status for the stamford bridge club ,they've also offered to loan the right midfielder straight back to the portuguese club should a deal be agreed, thus allowing him to play in the champions league -against liverpool.

chelsea are monopolising the transfer market to deny their rivals signing top players ,as much as to recruit for their first team. The ironic consequence of their apparent move for simao is liverpol have cooled their interest. (all chelsea have to do is threaten to outbid a club and they have achieved their aim ,**cking b'stard.,-my words)

chelsea' bid is a blatant attempt to blow any hope of benfica re-igniting talks .Why else would you pay so much money for a player you didn't need?

this is not the first time the arrogant londerners have engaged in tactics designed to undermine other clubs rather than strentgthen their own.

Kenyon and mourinho are like the pied pipers searching the globe to find the best talent and enticing them with a promise of wealth and luxuries.

they have players scattered across every continent. At the recent under 17 youth championships they big highest for all the best prospects ,before loaning them straight back to their clubs.

when liverpool ,man united or arsenal spot a talent now ,they've got to make sure they don't have 'property of chelsea' tattooed across their backside.

surely theres now a case for FIFA legislation against then number of players a club can sign and loan straight back out ? otherwise, chelsea's unprecendeted wealth could eventually see them sign up to a 100 players ,merely keeping the best 25 for themselves ,while stopping the rest joining top clubs.

technically what stops chelsea signing every top player in europe and picking their favourites at the start of the season, before loaning the rest out ? they're not trying to beat the competition any more they're trying to prevent any possibility of a contest in the first place.

theres even suspicion players within their squad were recruited to simply stop their challengers buying them.

A day before signing for chelsea ,shaun sent an SOS to anfield, making it clear he would rather sign for the european champions ,liverpool were helpess. They wanted to sign Wright Phillips ,but how could they compete with chelse's 22 million bid?

now chelsea have a player gathering splinters on their bench- a highly promising youngster who would have flourished at anfield ,whose career will stall for the next 2 seaosns before anyoen can sign him.

one hopes the case of shaun wright phillps and scott parker before him ,will serve as a warning to yougnsters tempted by chelsea's riches.

basic maths confirms chelsea can't keep all their promises that they make to their yougn prospects .It will take youngsters of mental courage, intelligence and reputable advisors to withstand the temptation.

Southampton's theo walcott, for example ,was virtually dared not to join the londereners by the unquestioing pro-chelsea brigade.mourinho was prepared to outbid everyone for the 16 year old ,if money dictated,he'd have got him.

what walcott asked himself was :did chelsea want him immediately for their first team? or did they want becos they are scared of what he will become if he spens time working with either wenger or benitez?

if walcott joined chelsea ,he may still be establishing himself in their reserves rather than england within the next 3 years .By seeming to turn them down,he's shown the way for others ,even if there will be disappointment withing anfield if he chooses highbury rather than liverpool, players will be wise to think carefully before making a decision about which serves them best when chelsea call.

and if they're still unsure maybe they can aquaire the mobile number of shaun wright phillips.

I've said before. I have no sympathy with likes of SWP. It is physically impossible to force someone to sign a contract they don't want to sign. SWP took the 'sweeteners' and scrapped his career for a big payday. All the SOS's and idealistic regrets mean nothing. Man up FFS, sack your 'advisors' (which as far as I know he has not yet done, so he can't regret it that much) and start make the decisions based on your own happiness, and not your bank balance, or those of the people around you.

If Citeh 'forced' him in to signing that contract, he should have stood up to them IMO.

If Simao does the same, it will be his fault and his fault alone. Sooner or later it will become clear that if you sign for the chavs, you will never actually play for a top team, but spend your unspectaculr career on a year-by-year basis at europes mid-level teams.

Young kid under pressure from everyone, including his current club, to sign- it's not unheard of and easily empathised with. Hopefully he'll learn from the mistake and others will take stock at the same time. The way Chelsea are going they'll make themselves pariahs of the game beofre long- at the top or not.

Young kid who is paying thousands and thousands of pound for people to advise him correctly.

SWP has even less excuse consider who his old man is. Ian Wright I believe actually advised him to take the money!!

He has bad advisers. He can't sack his dad, but he can sack the rest. I am still confused as to why Stevie G is still with his agency after being badly advised the last two summers. By his own admission this affected his form in Euro 2004.

if this is true that they are buying Simao just to stop us getting him ,then someone from Fifa has to make a stand, its like someone taking all the aces from a deck of cards before you play, its just not right, how on earth can this be allowed :o

he'd be an idiot to join them unless he can be guaranteed games.

Money didn't win them the European Cup

He respects his step-dad and took his advice. It's a shame his step dad happens to be one of the biggest f*ckwits on the face of the planet. Ian Wright may have been a success in the game but that doesn't mean he'd have learnt in some sort of Pavlovian style what good and bad advice is.

I don't know the situation with his advisers and I suspect you don't either. He made a bad decision and now he's living with it. Hopefully a lesson for others and yet more reasons for everyone, especially the media, to get on Chelsea's back and increase the pressure on them.

did they really made a bid? did they really offer a winger straight back to Benfica?

I do not think it's beyond them but it is a serious allegation, just the word of Bascombe is not enough.

How about Chris Bascombe's word and you're own common sense?

It is blatantly clear they did this with SWP. Whether or not they do the same with Simao is a different matter, but it's clear they don't need him, and the BBC have also reported that they are interested.

We will find out in time, if they sign him and loan him back, it will be damning.

well mourinho obviously has great contacts within portugal ,obviously got a message to benfica even if its not an 'official' approach that whatever liverpool bid chelsea will more than match ,

so if liverpool bid =so do chelsea

if liverpool don't= chelsea don't

what chelsea have done is convince benfica that they will get massive money for simao ,so they will keep him till the summer ,ironically enough if liverpool don't want him neither will chelsea probably and then they won't get the big money they thought they would get in the first place.

that is unless chelsea's interest is genuine ,who knows?

lucky for us that liverpool seem to have switched their attentions elsewhere even before chelsea got interested.

On a larger scale, apparently Abramovich is trying to purchase Espanyol, i'd imagine to try and f*** Barcelona, their perceived 'european rivals'.

Man U in the time of Kenyon used to do this all the time, try and ruin our transfers, remember they going in for finnan just before he signed for us? kewell etc.

Guest Red Mist

If Simao has a functioning brain he will tell Benfica he will never move to Chelsea, so they will be wasting their time in accepting a huge bid from Chelsea.

Very few players have such principles these days though, so if this story is true I fully expect him to sign for Chelsea and those enormous wages.

Exactly. Didnt our very own Nando tell Madrid that he would sign for Liverpool or not at all? Owen could have done it, SWP could have done it, Duff could have done it (but luckily didnt!!!) . No sympathy for any of them.

Where'd you hear this? UEFA have some rule whereby nobody can own more than one club that competes in Europe. ENIC had to sell of their shares in Rangers and some Greek team when they brought this rule in because they wanted to focus on Spurs.

It's also the reason Abramovich "sponsors" CSKA Moscow rather than owning them.

Think yer man Romanov had trouble cos he own Kaunas too.

I know this is probably a rubbish story, but if its true then what th ehll are chelsea planning to do with all their wingers?

Jose to pip Reds for £15m winger Sun, Jan 15 2006 13:01

Chelsea are said to be lining up a £15m swoop for winger Simao Sabrosa after Liverpool failed to match Benfica's valuation.

Liverpool have always been favourites to land the 26-year-old but after the Reds refused to pay the £15million Benfica want for the player, Chelsea are now in line to wrap up a deal.

Sources in Portugal claim Jose Mourinho will meet the asking price to sign the player and will then loan him back to Benfica for the rest of the season. Any move for Simao would cast further doubt over the future of Arjen Robben who is again being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

A source close to Benfica revealed: "Benfica's asking price for Sabrosa has always been around the £15million mark. They will not budge on that figure but Liverpool have been unwilling to meet it.

"But now Chelsea have entered the race the whole situation has changed and Benfica are ready to do a deal with them."

I know that I will be criticized for this, but why can't we just pay the fu(king money Benfica want. If we pay 11 mill straight and 2 more based on performences etc, he'll be ours IMO.

Because if we overpay for one player we'll have to overpay for all subsequent transfers.
