Any MS Word experts out there?

I'm trying to use the "Outline" function to plan my thesis and have now written most of it. Tried to apply a numbering system to it, and it works for the first few sections, then screws up.

 

For example:

 

1.

1.1

 

2.

2.1

 

is fine, then:

 

2.

2.1

 

2.2

 

4.

5.

6.

 

7.

8.

9.

 

4.6.

10.

11.

 

happens - why?! And how can I get it correct?!
