This one comes around every six months but anyway....

Brasseye

Father Ted

Monty Python's Flying Circus

A Bit of Fry and Laurie

The Smell of Reeves & Mortimer

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Keeping Up Appearances. It gets a good run here.

It gets a good run here too but nobody mentioned cos it's unfunny sh*te. :o;)

in no particular order:

i'm alan partridge

the office

monty python

only fools & horses

phoenix nights

has anyone mentioned 'league of gentlemen'? not one of my own favourites, but from the amount of raving about it when it was on, there's not much of a showing now.

I omitted League Of gentleman and The Office for the same reasons as I left Monty Python out - they're not comedies. They're beyond comedy and into something altogether different. They're damned funny, but also disturbing, cringeworthy and stomach churningly weird in ways a normal comedy like Fawlty Towers just doesn't go near.

Are you mad?!

The hairstyles and the clothes haven't of course but as for the stuff that matters, apart from the ... 'un pc terms' used about Manuel, it's still mostly flawless

maybe i've watched it too many times. just got to the point where you were waiting for basil to do his usual flip-out and shake his fist at something.

Dear Pseud's Corner...

EDIT: (Although 10 out of 10 for avoiding the word "surreal" ;).)

hear hear. 12 episodes of formulaic, ennervating farce. there are some moments of genuine laugh-out-loud comedy, but all in all i find it dated and over the top.

It's only cos you've seen it too many times. It is brilliant but I could probably do with not seeing it for a few years.

i haven't watched a full show in years, but even catching a few clips i feel that i've grown out of it. same way i feel about the young ones - except i grew out of that by the time i hit my early 20s.

Went completely off The Young Ones when that godawful Cliff Richard single came out.
