he actually apolgised to robbie fowler in his column

 

"LAST week, I compared Michael Owen's treatment at the hands of Liverpool fans with that of Robbie Fowler. I also called Robbie a waster. In hindsight, it was a lazy comparison and an unwarranted slur on a player whose litany of injuries have cruelly hampered his career. I've spoken to Robbie - an FA Cup hat-trick hero for Manchester City yesterday - and apologised. Hopefully, this public apology will help repair some of the damage my words caused".
