Mellberg is average. Never particularly impressed me.

I wouldn't even buy him as cover. We let Henchoz go and he's better than Mellberg.

The bloke you describe above is not Mellberg mate.

If you could get all that for £3m there would be a load of top clubs after him; let's see where he goes.....

He's lost fitness and confidence in the last two seasons, before that he was excellent. Both him and their keeper seem to have gone backwards under the current manager

think that's bang on. he's regressed at villa and i'm not sure he'd be a worthwhile signing any more.

Captains both Villa and the Swedish national team. Yes, he's been not so great lately but a change of environment would do him very good. Has the same winning mentality as Carra and would be a great option for us if we could get him for around 3 mill.

Doubt he's want to move to us in Jan. He would know he'd get few games which would possibly result in him losing his place in the Swedish team. He won't risk that.

 

We should have gone for him a couple of years ago. He's not the same player as he was.

Not a chance that he'd lose his place in the Swedish team. He could go injured until May but would still be certain of a place in the national team. Him and Lucic are the only decent centrebacks we have.

 

Agree that he's gone downwards though, two years ago he was one of the best in Europe, but now he's not more than OK.

Perhaps you're right though, haven't been able to watch Sweden as often as I can since I moved from there.
