it's caution plus a reminder that we can't buy many proven world class players due to lack of funds

When did Chelsea last buy a proven world-class player? I'd say it was Crespo.

EDIT: That's the only time since the Russian came in and that hasn't proven to be a roaring success, despite all the money they have.

i just hope there are sufficient funds to enable rafa to bring in his most wanted targets. what i find frustrating is that teams like spurs and newcastle who havent won anything in the last million years seem to have more financial muscle than we do.

Or maybe they are just saying how important it is to buy the right players, cos it's true

No big conspiracy!

Agreed, f***ing hell. Yesterday Rafa was praised and people were saying "They're only doing it so he doesnt go to Real Madrid" now this and its more conspiracies.

Spurs and Newcastle are not the same animal in terms of how they are funded, nor in terms of their financial health

Although Newcastle are now roughly £58m in debt and not qualifying for Europe would be a major concern for them.

Having read both the Balague and Lloret books I have to say that Rafa is the man. So f***ing right for this club.

He wants the mentality, the work ethic, the will to adapt to both the cultural and team ethic, as well as the natural footballing qualities.

There will be a gem in the rough for every big signing we make.

More often than not we will get someone who can adapt to the various systems that Rafa wants to play.

One thing that stood out from the Balague book is when Ranieri was asked by a player (after Rafa had left Valencia) how to play.

Ranieri responded 'play as you did last season'

to which the player responded 'we had five different styles of playing / defending last season'

We're not just looking at building a championship winning team but a squad, and that goes through the ressies as well.

We honestly don't know how f***ing great our manager is yet.

He'll be a legend. For sure.
