Mini-Amiga coming out in March.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09BW8N7JZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KGYWVSXSZ3WSBBE1EC8B

My Dad wouldn’t let me get one, said that computers were for computing, not gaming. Well who’s gaming now, Pops?!

Oooh, mini PC Engine as well

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Konami-PC-Engine-CoreGrafx-Mini/dp/B07SLM7N9J/ref=pd_vtp_4/259-4038199-4854527?pd_rd_w=iTj5P&pf_rd_p=f8be2100-4de3-46b4-9cb2-76b688b54cf4&pf_rd_r=3AY33780KD4A0M1Q1F2K&pd_rd_r=be059f12-8f6d-4d10-809d-a9a29150e792&pd_rd_wg=ZbO6H&pd_rd_i=B07SLM7N9J&psc=1

The graphics on these always looked lightyears ahead of the 16-bit consoles, and the price of import ones in the ads of C+VG made them seem really exotic.

I have one of those. Well worth getting.
I was the same with C+VG. Always thought those and the SNK Neo Geo were from another planet.

I was desperate for one as a kid... Especially when some games like WWF Wrestling were not coming out for the lowly 48k spectrum anymore as they weren't able to run the games.

A mate had one we used with Music X for a while until our little studio upgraded to an ST for Cubase, so I borrowed it for while. I agree with Benzo, some great games on that machine, plenty of stoned hours put in playing Sensible Soccer and Speedball2. I eventually got hold of an A1200 second hand, but never really got into it so sold it it and got my first PC.

I was looking at getting an A500 a while back, but the size and second hand prices put me off the idea. This FPGA mini looks good fun, but I decided to get a MiSTer to cater for the nostalgia in the end. Been having a blast running the Amiga, ST, Archimedes, Spectrum, C64, BBC Micro cores, plus all the consoles and handhelds for the era.

I thought I was the absolute Bees Knees when I bought the Neo Geo Pocket handheld. Looks like there's a Neo Geo mini as well, probably costs about 10 grand.

I have a NGP Colour... great little handheld. Loved playing Turfmasters on my commute.

The joystick on it was great.

I picked up a ZX Spectrum re-created that's supposed to run off a mobile app emulator, but one of the Spectrum core devs for the MiSTer got it to work on that.20220110_105923.thumb.jpg.a3c64969ec9cebe730003084c532cec7.jpg

I’ve still got my Amiga 500 (1MB). Works too. In the middle of a house move but might throw on the new LG OLED (with SCART/HDMI converter) when I eventually get up to the new place.

They are just great retro machines. I’ve bought loads of the Neo Geo games on PSN.

It was originally a kickstarter https://recreatedzxspectrum.com/ and they pop up on Ebay quite a bit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115179781678?hash=item1ad13ffe2e:g:lt8AAOSwBRVh2sFU

I'm guessing you've got Homebrew on the Vita? I'm not sure if it will work fully with RetroArch in it's full spectrum mode. It is a USB/Bluetooth keyboard and will function, but has a mode switch to work with it's own proprietary emulator. I'll be able to check that probably after the weekend (I bought a Vita on Sunday, should have it by Thursday).

yeah my Vita has RetroArch on it and fully kitted out. Its fantastic.

I would probably look at somehow getting a Raspberry Pi into one of them 48k's and have it all built in and have a HDMI out. Will google to see if there are any guides for anyone who has done it already

Nice! I'm looking forward to setting mine up when it arrives.

I think I've seen that done and there are probably mounting kits you can get. The original Spectrum keyboard will have to be converted to a USB signal so will need a board to convert its matrix. It's not as straightforward as you might think though, something to do with key ghosting. This is the thread of how this got implemented on the MiSTer which will shed some light on what needs to happen to get all the key combos working as if it was an og .. https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3491

lovely stuff, think its the same model as mine... it the OLED one?

Was playing Cool Boarders 2 on it last night and Tomb Raider 1... one thing I don't like about it is the touch pad L2 R2 buttons... rather have an actual physical button.

I worked on Wipeout 2048 for Vita as a launch title and it did my head in that they went down that route as found it restrictive with how sensitive it is.

I think it's the OLED one, it's super sharp. I've not used one before, so don't know how to check yet. It had Fifa 13 on it and was surprised it had a touch surface on the back!

Wipeout is an awesome game. I've heard PS3 era hardware was a bitch to code for.

The cricket game on it looks amazing

Cheers, I haven't really checked it out much. Just curious if people have found the tech and content mature enough to justify £300.

anyone else been playing the daily word puzzle game called Wordle?

I expect so with it being talked about so much.... it's nothing groundbreaking. Just a nice coffee break game to have a go at

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

can be played on mobile browser or PC

a footballer's name version, because one wordle a day isn't enough
