100 best LP's of the 21st Century so far

Recommended Posts

Have to say though - despite there being stuff in there I don't care for, there are no absolute howlers like Coldplay.

We can argue & debate till the cows come home on omissions but first pass at it seems to be that it's one of the better lists

When I read that through this morning I thought, yeah, OK, as a general survey it's not the worst but it is a bit focused on big names and big-sellers, as if no one was able or willing to stick their neck out on anything a bit more left-field. Re-visit that list in 20 years time and it would look a lot different when a few 'lost' albums emerge from the murk of obscurity to claim their rightful honourable places and some fall massively out of favour..

It reads like a Pitchfork list

And Amy Winehouse should be nowhere near a top 100 albums of the 21st century

I get why they pick it but if she hadn't died it wouldn't be in the top 50.

Yeah Luke Turner just said that on Twitter. What a coincidence.

Amy was f***ing brilliant btw.

I get why they pick it but if she hadn't died it wouldn't be in the top 50.

Yeah I hadn't heard of her until she died. Absolutely no critical acclaim whatsoever.

Behave.

And you. That list has Lily Allen in it and you're peeved at Amy?

I can't believe that none of the f*** Buttons, Forest Swords or Blanck Mass LPs are in there either

Not the most accessible of stuff those 3, can see why they wouldn't get a mention across such a big group of writers.

perhaps - although Jlin isn't the most straightforward either and she - deservedly - gets one in there
