She's a c***

Read somewhere ages ago that if West Ham went down they would be proper f***ed in terms of finances.

So lets hope it happens, with the added bonus of it being Moyes who takes them down.

Whenever we can resume, resume the leagues and finish them. Cancel next seasons if needs be and give the players a break before Euro 2021. Simples.

the problem is money governs these things. TV companies will want as many matches as possible

Anyone would think she’d come out with that as the club she works for are in a relegation battle!

Sorry Liverpool ? Its more a case of sorry Leeds & West Brom, we don't want the risk of being in the Championship next season so you can stay there and we'll try our best to wangle a way to stay in the Premier League.

“Sorry Liverpool but the Premier League has to be declared null and void if players can’t play again. The thought that everyone will be in and out of isolation and fit to play on April 4 seems so unlikely. So what if the league cannot be finished? The only fair and reasonable thing to do is declare the whole season null and void. A huge blow to Liverpool who might be robbed of their first title in 30 years. This will be discussed between the PL and the clubs next week at an emergency meeting.”

Fair and reasonable. Hahaha. It's literally neither.

Yeah -  she uses language like fair & reasonable to sound controlled & balanced and devoid of self interest by roping in Liverpool and making our club the focus. Fair & reasonable - lovely language.

From the FT

Over recent days, English football executives have formulated plans designed to avoid heavy losses of income if games are played in empty stadiums, while also seeking to prevent a battle over which teams are relegated and which qualify for lucrative European tournaments should the season be cancelled altogether.

Club executives, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said most Premier League teams had insurance policies against ticketing income, which they expected to kick in if matches were forced to be played in empty stadiums.

The Premier League’s crisis plan is focused on completing the remaining fixtures left in the season. If the matches are played, the league’s biggest revenue source, the £9.2bn it makes from multiyear domestic and international broadcasting contracts, would be protected.

Some senior officials are beginning to discuss what should happen if the season cannot be completed......this would set up a battle between teams over the terms of the season’s cancellation, with 14 of the 20 member clubs needing to vote in favour to make changes to the league’s rule book  The top four clubs qualify for the next season’s Champions League, Europe’s top club competition where €2bn is shared between competing clubs. The bottom three teams are relegated, losing tens of millions of pounds. They are replaced by three sides from the Championship — the tier below the Premier League — which earn at least £170m from promotion.  “We don’t have a rule book about having to finish, that would have to be discussed,” said one senior English football executive. “[Cancelling the season] will suit some and definitely not suit others. There will be some teams desperate not to be relegated.”

The 30th June players contracts date worries me. If stuff can’t be completed by then you’ve got scenarios where clubs can argue they’ve been deprived of players for the season for which they’ve been contracted.

They should come out & say final positions will stand if it can’t be completed, inarguably the fairest way of resolving it, though admittedly not perfect, that would provide some clarity at least. Then work around that.

And/or make sure everyone has played an equal number of games through going BCD for the remaining scheduled fixtures so everyone has played the same number of games.

That's one more match for half a dozen teams and everyone would have played 29

If they're that bothered they can offer them a new contract.

Of course they can, but that’s not really the point is it.

It’s a potential basis for voiding.

Really? You'd want a play off if we were 25 points behind city?

Yeah. F*ck them and they're 'tainted title' jibes.

Seriously, I just don't think in this silly scenario that Jurgen should be making that comment, sh*t happens and if it were the other way around I'd be pissing myself.

The Telegraph is an utter rag

It's be a bit of an anti-climax to just get awarded the title one day after a meeting of clubs & the season's just ended there & then; I'd take it but there'd be no build up to the final whistle, no moment of release.

oh - and when did stadia become stadiums?

Could just take average points so far and extend to 38 games

If you're doing that you need to factor in a formula for strength of schedule.

I get what you’re saying, but all the ties are in theory equal (although they’re not). There’s no scenario other than finishing the games that’s really palatable to everyone. West Ham should just be sent down though

I f***ing hate West Ham.

Imagine if they get this season voided and screw Sheffield United again.

Anyway, diversion - for each club, which current player has the face that best encapsulates the club.

West Ham is obviously Noble.

It has already been decided that  Norwich is Cantwell.

Leicester is Vardy.

Watford is Deeney.

Villa is Grealish.

The Mancs can have Maguire.

Spurs is Kane.

Everton is Tom Davies.

We're obviously Virgil.

Add your own...

My villa supporting mate came up with a great idea if it does get cancelled

Simply give Liverpool the league, automatically promote Leeds and West brom, no relegation and have a 22 team league next season.
