Chewie Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 (edited) We're seriously running on fumes now aren't we.. what does Jurgen do from here... from a fitness perspective I think we'll be fine but it's the risk, as with Ox tonight, of impact injury... beat Stoke and we are almost guaranteed to be in the CL next season. Especially if Swansea get anything against Chelsea later that day. It's like a play-off final game. right now it's play and rest... training is simply keeping limbs fresh.. but what are Klopp's options? I'd go strongest 11 for the next two games.. good results in both gets us (almost) in next year's CL and this year's final.. then see where the dust settles and hope that one or both of Lallana and Can gets 7-10 days of training before the final.. Oh - and this is why any chat about worrying about bringing in players as backup can do one.. just sign 5 more boss lads and worry about egos later.. Edited April 24, 2018 by Chewie
Cheesecake Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 We do have options - Clyne at right back, we could use Klavan and Gomez at CB, we could use Mig in goal and Moreno at left mid or wide in a front 3 even, Doubt all these changes will happen but I'd go: --------------KariusClyne Gomez Klavan Robertson Woodburn Gini Moreno-------Ings Solanke Mane It's a bit mad I know but ffs we lose any of Virgil, Fimino or Salah and we can pack up an go home and the midfield is threadbare now also after losing AOC tonight. Basically play the guys that you in no way want to be starting in a CL semi final second leg or a CL final along with Karius, Robbo, Gini and Mane.
Cunny Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 The squad is big in terms of numbers but we have just been decimated with injuries in midfield.Ings and Solanke just aren't good enough to rest the front 3.I thunk we could see Trent or Moreno in midfield before the season is out.
Dominus Maximus Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 I thought he rotated to keep everyone fresh? I'm on the buy bigger squad bandwagon now. But for now it's youngster time. Let's see what these kids can do. And Salah really shouldn't play again before Kiev but that's not likely.

Yeah - very unlucky to lose 3 midfielders to serious (month to x months) injuries. At least Moreno in midfield can't do quite as much damage as in defence, but not sure I want to see him on the pitch at all. Would be happier to see TAA or Woodburn in there.
épieur Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 We're missing a whole midfield and still have good players to field. I think our depth there is pretty good. . And Salah really shouldn't play again before Kiev but that's not likely.Of course he should. You can't bench a player in the form of his life for a month and expect him to be as sharp as he could be. He'll play a lot more than people are comfortable with.
Serko Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 I thought he rotated to keep everyone fresh? I'm on the buy bigger squad bandwagon now. But for now it's youngster time. Let's see what these kids can do. And Salah really shouldn't play again before Kiev but that's not likely. Not playing for a month is really going to keep him match sharp. He needs to play the next two games at least, rest him for Chelsea (unless we need a win), and then play him in the last Premier league game.
RBM Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Can always go to 5 at the back pushing Arnold and Robertson forward, or play 442 using Arnold and Moreno( I know I know) as wide midfielders
Case Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 (edited) Grujic could have been our Biscan as well.....I'd play neither Henderson nor Milner this weekend. We're good enough to beat Stoke with any half decent side out. Then draw v chelsea and beat brighton at home and it's done.Alternatively, finish 5th and with the European cup. I'm not bothered either way. Edited April 25, 2018 by Case
Cunny Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Can Grujic and Wilson play for us once the football league season has finished?Assuming Cardiff are not in the play-offs.
Bailo Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Can Grujic and Wilson play for us once the football league season has finished?Assuming Cardiff are not in the play-offs.Good idea, don't see why not. Grujic was an unused sub last night for Cardiff.
Maldini Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Ibe did a few years ago when he came back from Derby, Ojo maybe as well? and I think we included Sergi Canos in our squad for the last game a couple of years back as wellI wonder what the story with the CL is though

CaptainXabi Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Grujic isn't in our CL squad so not an option unfortunately https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/season=2018/clubs/club=7889/squad/ Neither is Wilson apparently, although maybe he can be added to the homegrown/young players list or whatever it's called. So can we cancel loans or not? Because Hull aren't getting relegated or promoted. Harry Wilson in for the weekend might be possible?
Maldini Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 I don't think we can cancel loans at this stage but we can take them once they've ended. Wilson would count for the B list, not sure if we can add players back to it at this stage though, probably not.
downunder Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Can’t we add young players to the cl squad at any time?
doug_mac Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 are lallana and can definitely out for the season? would be a big boost to have them back, the final is a month away
DecidedByPoll Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 To have 3 central midfielders out at the same time is really unlucky. Chambo’s injury in particular feels like a kick in the balls (not for him like, I think it’s his knee). Can would’ve had a ball in Rome
cymrococh Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Curtis Jones got to be getting his game at Stoke.
DecidedByPoll Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Curtis Jones got to be getting his game at Stoke. He might be needed to run his balls off for 10 mins in Rome too.
Dominus Maximus Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 We should try TAA in midfield with Clyne at RB. This
Falconhoof Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 We should try TAA in midfield with Clyne at RB. I’m not in favour of running Trent ragged, 3 times in a week.Rest them all, play the kids at Stoke.
