i dont have any political views by the way, im not British and dot live there. But from the outside looking in, the guts of 500-700 people die there every day from this virus and only an absolute moron would not think about that before moving there. Regardless of money.

You’ve just asked someone above how they know the opposite is true. Same applies to you.
These are footballers. They move for money and success. Only someone who hasn’t paid attention to football for decades would think differently.

Apparently the athletic reckons we won’t make any major moves this summer unless we can shift Shaqiri, Wilson and Grujic, and then we’d go for Werner.

I'm joking. They're weapons.

Apparently they're lucky we got Klopp, like it was nothing to do with them

They were a bit lucky tbf

And Klopp has made them look better

But obviously a million miles better than G&H and the majority of owners out there

Liverpool FC once employed Paul Konchesky and was helmed by Roy Hodgson and Christian f***ing Purslow.

Jesus Christ. Konchesky was possibly the worst player for us I can remember in modern times. And one everyone called. Like transfers are inherently exciting so you can talk yourself round to a lot of players but literally everyone was like “this lad is s***e, is this a joke?”

Souness signed Thomas - a half decent player who once drove a knife through our hearts but then scored a cracker to win us an FA Cup

Hodgson signed Konchesky - an utterly w*** defender who temporarily winded us with a fluke goal in an FA Cup final which we won anyway.

Hodgson was even s*** at irony.

Some might say it's a very convenient excuse for us not to spend any money.

Which will only wash as long as our rivals don't spend as well.

It depends how you've come to the decision though. It's mainly based on forecasting isn't it? One club might plan for £0 in matchday revenue in the entire year of 2021. Someone could plan for £80m in matchday revenue. The behaviour is related directly to that more than anything else. Someone might spend £50m on a footballer using money that they don't end up getting.

Nah, it’s not 500 athletes in their 20s with enough money for the very best medical care, and indeed medical care provided by their employer, who worry about this virus.

almost sounds like Leeds early-90s

It is really and it's a reasonable comparison. If they'd have qualified for the next few Champions Leagues they'd probably have been alright and wouldn't have disappeared for over 15 years. They did what they did, qualified above us in 99/00, reached a semi final and we did what we did and have played four European Cup Finals since.

Was their choice thee right decision based on what happened? No. Could it have been seen as the right decision if their forecasting had been proved correct? Absolutely. Granted it's a little bit different but it's similar enough to use as a broad comparison as what could happen to clubs in the next couple of years. What looks like a good decision might prove not to be in the longer term, and vice versa.

In the summer of 2000 being more like Leeds would be a valid point you could make based on results. In the summer of 2004 you'd not retrospectively argue we should have done what they did.

I'm happy to stick with these lads.

Yes it needs freshening up, but I just don't think we're in any risk of losing Mane, Firmino, Salah for a good two years. Corona is going to massively impact everything. You're not going to see big transfers like Coutinho, Suarez, Ronaldo, Neymar etc for a long time again.

Mad to think we've played 4 European Cup Finals in those 20 years.

For so long it felt like another club and then again it did after Rafa was sacked.

It's all relative though isn't it. Mane or Salah could kick off, go on strike and demand a £40m move to Real and we get werner in for £20m.

That said, I imagine contracts now are as good as they'll be for a while so maybe players will be content where they are.

And two UEFAs.

And fans from other clubs, particularly Spurs and the type, always forget this.
