The US President

According to a report in Der Spiegel, the G7 ministers have not so far been able to agree on a joint statement because of Pompeo’s insistence that it should refer to the disease as the “Wuhan virus”, a suggestion that was rejected by other members of the group of prosperous democracies.

Asked about the disagreement this morning, Pompeo did not answer directly, but did not deny it.

“The Chinese Communist party poses a substantial threat to our health and way of life, as the Wuhan virus outbreak clearly has demonstrated,” Pompeo said this morning.

Their behaviour is ridiculous - however I do have major issues with the Chinese government. The doctor who was trying to tell everyone about this virus had the secret police sent round to silence him, and eventually died.

China also pump out a gigantic 30% of world pollution. The US is second on 15% then nobody else has more than 7%. And their standards of animal welfare are virtually non existent (which in why these viruses keep appearing over there). So everything we try to do to save the environment is pointless unless they make some major efforts to reduce their emissions.

i don’t agree with the methods of challenging them from the morons running the US currently, but the Chinese government is a major threat to the world and even humanity as we know it, and a law unto itself.

Leo. Without going down a massive tangent...

on the pollution thing: ours is so low as we’ve outsourced all production of everything to China - which is why theirs is high. Yes, their standards could be higher but the differential would still be stark. US has outsourced production and STILL has a huge %, esp per head of population

A really significant of our 'recycling' is not really recycled either. it is shipped in vast quantities to the far east where it is then sorted through and largely disposed of in damaging ways. We've shifted the problem but not solved it.

It's possible that this effort to prematurely return some Americans to work is Trump wanting to appease some of his Red state voters

And his Tom Brady thing yesterday was surreal

This thing was always going to hit America the hardest. It’s a test of each country’s governance, social care & health services.

California deem gun stores non essential and order them to close. The NRA sue to have them declared essential. Priorities.

And he's seemlessly gone from Easter Sunday as a target for removing social distancing guidelines to June 1st.

More personal attacks on journalists exposing his lies
