new phone help

Just got a new moto g and haven't really used android before. There are a row of @ signs at the top of the screen to the left of the WiFi strength. What does this indicate. Tried looking online without any joy. Cheers

Dunno. I haven't got a Moto but do have an Android (never had a row of @ though)... have you tried scrolling the row down the screen?

Isn't that Twitter notifications that you've been mentioned?

 

Put your finger on that top row with the battery etc. on it and pull it down - it should show you all your notifications.

Yeah I have one and it's notifications. Swipe down and tap to read or swipe right to bin

That should be the name of your network, not quite sure what's going on there, who are you with?

Given your carrier text is a bunch of @ symbols and you say its appearing in the status bar could this be your issue? If so which version of Android are you on? You can find this by going into settings under the about phone section.

 

According to that link assuming you are on at least 4.4.3 you should be able to use this setting, doesn't explain why your carrier text is all @ symbols though.

With EE , strange isn't it and thanks for the info. The row of @@@@ is strange edit. Fixed it, went into settings and changed "show carrier name" cheers moose.

Through the old "I'm leaving " tactic i got EE to give me 300 minutes, 1.25 Gb and unlimited texts for £8.50 including phone.

Very nice. Really impressed by the phone. I had a crappy phone beforehand and wanted something better but it had to have extra memory for music to replace my iPod touch. All sorted in one quick move
