Stand Up For The Week

Didn't come across in the right way there.

What I meant was, if you're going to base your routine on race, it feels to me that it would just be perpetuating stereotyping people which may even lead to racism. I've noticed it on HIGNFY as well, with cheap jokes about stereotypes of people, mostly from Europe, but also Asia, such as that caption of a dog dressed up as a hotdog and a dig at Korea. You can see Paul Merton's reaction to that, it didn't seem to sit well with him.

The "race" card may work in the US, but racism is very much an undercurrent there in my opinion. But I think we're moving beyond that here, at least we should be, and not possibly reinforcing the racist attitudes of the bigots and idiots that do exist in our society.
