This is what Corbyn was suspended for

“Antisemitism is absolutely abhorrent, wrong and responsible for some of humanity’s greatest crimes. As Leader of the Labour Party I was always determined to eliminate all forms of racism and root out the cancer of antisemitism. I have campaigned in support of Jewish people and communities my entire life and I will continue to do so.

“The EHRC’s report shows that when I became Labour leader in 2015, the Party’s processes for handling complaints were not fit for purpose. Reform was then stalled by an obstructive party bureaucracy. But from 2018, Jennie Formby and a new NEC that supported my leadership made substantial improvements, making it much easier and swifter to remove antisemites. My team acted to speed up, not hinder the process.

“Anyone claiming there is no antisemitism in the Labour Party is wrong. Of course there is, as there is throughout society, and sometimes it is voiced by people who think of themselves as on the left.

“Jewish members of our party and the wider community were right to expect us to deal with it, and I regret that it took longer to deliver that change than it should.

“One antisemite is one too many, but the scale of the problem was also dramatically overstated for political reasons by our opponents inside and outside the party, as well as by much of the media. That combination hurt Jewish people and must never be repeated.

“My sincere hope is that relations with Jewish communities can be rebuilt and those fears overcome. While I do not accept all of its findings, I trust its recommendations will be swiftly implemented to help move on from this period.”

Ugh. Ok so purely on Churchill and the British aspect of the Second World War (I really don't want to go over all of his imperialism, and racism, and pre-war stuff - this is torture enough as it

Gordian Brown.

Yes. I volunteered yesterday to chaperone some of the asylum seekers that have been homed near us, and I found myself relishing the idea of physically confronting anyone who may object to that.

He's been suspended for comments about the report and refusing to retract them, not the report

This will of course be a huge distraction for ages from the government's failings over Covid

Nothing wrong with what he said was there?

Might as well call him Adolf Corbyn after this

I don't think so. Statement of facts. I think those of us to the left of Keir Starmer are really seriously going to have to consider a new party (I know, easier said than done). It's just f*** you after f*** you, in the expectation that we'll have no choice but to vote Labour in any election no matter what they do. They have no interest in tolerating, let alone accommodating, anything on the left.

Ludicrous.

I mean there's nothing there that can be criticised is there?

If you were being hugely critical and reading into it something that wasn't intended then I guess you could try to argue that the bits in bold were downplaying the issues but even that's a hell of a stretch and certainly not one I'd subscribe to.

Calls for Diane Abbot, John McDonnell and 13 others to now be fully removed from the Labour Party

Edit - the post above beat me to it

And for the likes of Ian Austin to be invited back

That's a bizarre statement, isn't it?

Looks from the outside like a very coordinated purge

And the Socialist Campaign Group will just standby and get purged one by one.

If a new socialist party was formed it would have a million members within a year.

A million?! That would involve taking every ssingle member of the labour party and then pretty much doubling it.

We trebled the membership in 2015 and 2016 but your lot didn't like that did you?

You have to accept that Jeremy Corbyn has kept suspect company and there are far too many conspiracy theories associated with Anti Semitism for there not be a problem here.

Far too many instances, far too many mistakes, far too much smoke. These aren't isolated one off instances.

Why do you consistently demonstrate your ignorance? Are you never embarrassed?

Corbyn has been probably the most committed anti-racist in UK politics for decades. Can't really say the same for you can we?

I don't really want to be polite to you because I don't really give a f*** anymore. You're a pathetic f***ing c*** and I wish I'd never had my life polluted with your presence, even if only via this forum.

Ha!

Qanon would certainly agree to that philosophy.

What's the magic number that tips the scales?

That's absolutely brilliant. Nice one Des

The European Court of Human rights just identified systemic failures of the Labour party and it's handling of anti-semitism of which Jeremy Corbyn is culpable.
