95 - decent innings that for someone who had such a hard start in life.

Long since faded from popularity, but his films were holiday staples when I was a kid - once saw him in panto at the Empire too.

RIP Pitkin

I've seen him many times on the Island, he always but always stopped and talked to people, let them take photos, tell them jokes and spent time with them, always smiling and laughing. He's smiled and waved at me a few times, he treated members of the public as if he knew them all personally.

He had been in a home for about 4 years following a series of strokes.

Seemed to be a genuinely nice bloke.

RIP Norm.

wasn't he like the national hero of albania or something.

:D

He was and its one of those brilliant quirks of fate. His films were among a very few foreign films allowed under the communist regime.

He visited the country about 5 years ago and was mobbed everywhere he went. Apparently he didn't want to leave as he enjoyed the adulation so much.

Great entertainer, I enjoyed his films when I was a kid.

very good at falling over.

rip.

He was also huge in Iran!! Quite a good musician too. Once saw him at the Palladium when he played the drums and nearly brought the house down. (think Sammy Davis Jnr was on stage too doing one of his tap dances).
