tubes are shut round the ground macca. nearest tube open is a 40 minute walk. get a cab.

Not a strike, just usual weekend engineering works, deliberately scheduled to put stations that are needed for footie out of commission.

 

Best bet is to get the Jubilee Line to Canning Town and then the number 5 bus, which goes to the ground.

I think it's the District Line and the Hammersmith & City Line - so the only two which service Upton Park.

looking at the tfl website - there doesn't appear to be any problem with West Ham on the Jubilee line, but the offal says go to Canning Town - a 35min walk away (on the Jubilee line).

 

this is going to be a massive ballache

Mike, the closest two are West Ham or Canning Town on the Jubilee Line.

Its about a 20 min walk, although I forgot you've hurt your ankle, so its probably worth getting a bus from there

dunnno whether that works. I just spoke to the London Transport people & they advised walking from Canning Town station as buses will probably be slower than walking.

The boozer we are going to isn't to bad from Forest Gate

Is that open, and does a line run to there from the city?

Forest Gate is supposed to open.

Its on the mainline from Liverpool Street. Its about 5 stops from there.

Direct access to either Stratford or Liverpool Street for the tube

Cheers Raj. My mate lives in Stoke Newington, so i think my limited London knowledge tells me i can get to Liverpool St fairly handy from there. But he may know a better way

Its easy from Clapham. I live near there and its easy enough to get to Liv St
