The whole deal was really weird, I know Sunderland have a bit of money now, but it couldn't have been more painfully obvious that Hull were getting some cast-off whilst losing their best player. Strange logic to accept even £12m for him with only a few days left, and IIRC they didn't spend that money anyway.
