Mike Riley and the Reading mascot

In last night's Reading-Newcastle match, Mike Riley sent off the Reading mascot as he thought he might mistake him for a player. As a correspondent to the Fiver puts it:

 

"Re: Mike Riley dismissing Kingsley the Lion from the Reading touchline because he was confusing the officials. Just a thought, but if Mr Riley has a problem distinguishing between a footballer and a seven-foot cuddly toy, perhaps refereeing isn't his true vocation"
