Dominus Maximus Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Gotta give him some credit. He is really looking to establishing himself as a superstar. He he makes the occasional error, but he is a tough kid, and a nice goal today as well.

Ben 23 Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Should be great for years to come, perfect partner for Carra really and they are working well at the moment. Should be looking at 5-10 goals a season as well.
RafaShanks Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Yep, he's development has been fantastic since he joined us from Brondby. Was a bit concerned about his injuries, but he seems to have gotten over them. He's technique is feckin fantasic for a centre back. I still think we need another quality CB in the summer. If Carra or Agger get injured, we'd be substancially weakened at the back. Sami just doesn't have the pace any more and hardly figures anyway. Not sure if Arbeloa can play there and Paletta still looks off the pace. Woodgate would fit the bill perfectly and would allow Rafa to chop and change the centre back pairing to keep them fresh throughout the course of a season.
Maldini Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 (edited) Don't think he's developed at all really, he's been fantastic right from the start of the season. Don't think we need another CB, it'd be madness to get another in. We have Carra and Agger as first choice and Sami, Arbeloa and Paletta as back up in the first team squad as well as Roque, Hobbs and Antwi who could play if we're really stuck. Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 please don't anyone label him the 'new...'

mercury Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 he is great but still prone to a dangerous moment every game. imagine a couple of years when he eliminates that with a couple more goals!

Agree - plus I cant imagine woodgate coming to play second fiddle to carra and agger. You just dont rotate your centerbacks as often as you do for the midfield and strikers.
KD07 Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Been found out a tad when coming up against more muscular and pacy opposition such as Martins and almost Baptista yesterday, but he'll only get stronger me thinks and in time, polish up his positioning. What a player though.
Falconhoof Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I bet Carra has been a huge influence on him and helped him hit the ground running. You couldn't wish for a better role model in his position.
Ben 23 Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 5-10 Yeah, he's got four this season and I think he can look to get a few more. Sami used to get over 5 a season a few years back and I think Agger should look to do the same. Daniel got 5 in 26 games the season before he joined us and 3 in 6 U21 internationals. I think Rafa will set him a little goals target next year.
Falconhoof Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 talking of goal scoring defenders, how many does Gallas have ?He's always sniffing around the 6 yard box on set pieces.
madskilz Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 talking of goal scoring defenders, how many does Gallas have ?He's always sniffing around the 6 yard box on set pieces. He always seems to score against us as well, both in his chelsea days and now with Arsenal
KD07 Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 He's a former striker Gallas, that instinct has served him well. That said, we don't deal with those kind of corners very well. There was a similar one earlier that I remember when the ball was played in to their man at the near post to flick it into the six yard area and the second time they did that, they scored. Chelsea has done that to us too as that particular variation of corners has cost us a few goals.
Andy-oh-six Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 He should be in with a shout for young player of the year but I bet he doesn't even get mentioned. He's had a very good first full season.
allez les rouges Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 he is great but still prone to a dangerous moment every game. imagine a couple of years when he eliminates that with a couple more goals! what dangerous moments?i cant think of any.
Rimbeux Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 newcastle away... I can think of maybe half a dozen the whole season, same as Carra in reality. All he has to do is man up a bit in the challenge which he is doing, he wont get the balance of free kicks for pushes and nudges in the PL, and the safest option is to stay upright. Also he needs to think more with his distribution or he may go the road of Ferdinand, good on the ball but s*** at using it.
lfc003 Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 (edited) He's done really well, I do think though due to compliancy/casualness he has a mistake in him most games Edited April 1, 2007 by lfc003
Guest Anders Honoré Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Don't think he's developed at all really, not good enough. get rid.
CarraLegend Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I do think though due to complancy/casualness he has a mistake in him most games But he doesnt though. Have you actually watched him?
Hassony Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 He's a former striker Gallas, that instinct has served him well.hasn't served momo that well
