Canadian General Election

For the 3rd time since I moved here - less than 5 years ago - it looks like we will be having another federal election in April/May time. There's likely to be a vote of no confidence in the coming budget which will effectively force Stephen Harper's minority government into an election. Ho hum.

 

Anyhoo I met the leader of the opposition, Stéphane Dion, yesterday and he seems like a very genuine, sincere man, quite a strong character despite how he's portrayed in the media. As an example, he faced a picket line on the way in and rather than just drive through and ignore it, he got out, took the protesters into a room and discussed their greivances - takes a strong leader to do that IMO.

 

Hopefully he'll be the next Prime Minister of Canada.
