I think the press are gutted the incident wasn't 'all it was made out to be', as Bellamy's tongue-in-cheek celebration proves and are still desperately trying to convince people via articles that slate Bellamy for even daring to try such a celebration that the tabloid version was right; either so they still have something to talk about, or to keep trying to put us down.

Didn't you cringe even the tiniest bit though during Bellamy's interview after the match? No apology for dragging the clubs name through the mud or for disrupting the build up to the biggest game of the our season - He didn't feel that he owed us? Or the club?

 

Obviously, it's brilliant that we won, but when others point out the downsides I don't think it's justified to jump on our high horse and shout about "media bias".

 

For what it's worth, my own opinion is that Bellamy will be gone next year, not due to his temper, but more to do with the fact that he's not the clinical striker that we need.

Mind you, I'm a lot happier having read that Rafa interview. From the sounds, the players were plenty professional after the event.

Wallace in The Indie was the only one I read who took this line. He also managed to shoehorn a reference to the Mancs balmy night in Barcelona into his match report and the srticle above - which might tell us something.

However, this does not mean all the press are gutted we won - read Henry Winter's article in The Telegraph today.

Exactly. And the whole thing can have been exagerrated. We do not even know what the heck had actually happened. If Riise, the team and Rafa feel it sufficiently dealt with, that's it.

If I was Bellamy I would have told the SKY interviewer to f*** **f. They and their pundits are bloody useless and it seems that there are a multitude of tabloid reporters that hate LFC winning anything.

Important thing here is that the incident is closed as far as the club and players are concerned. I guess it is unlikely that any one in the media will know the full truth of what happened for some time yet.

Good to see the club going back to the closed door mentality of the glory years.

The article is a load of crap. If it was a serious incident, apart from the fact Bellamy probably wouldn't have played, he certainly wouldn't have celebrated like that with Riise and especially Benitez watching on. Why should he apologise for an incident that has blatantly been exaggerated just to satisfy the media? He shouldn't. The only reason they are still criticising him is because it's been made obvious they made half their stories up in the first place. Not to mention probably a bit annoyed that he's shoved their words down their throats with his goal and assist.

Watched the game again last night, Sky coverage, and when Bellamy was taken out by Zambrotta right on the touchline, they showed a replay of the obvious foul. Andy Gray then says "thankfully the referee doesn't see it". Hmm.
