Guest ziggystardust Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 (edited) im not one to make knee jerk reactions or really to start a thread but i just want to discuss these two. Bellamy looks short on confidence but he is still a threat whenever he is on the pitch, works hard and im sure, no im certain he'll come good. Pennant however is just plain sh!!!te. 7 mil for that, brum must be pi55ing themselves. Edited November 8, 2006 by ziggystardust
meepins Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 It wasn't 7m English pounds for Pennant? That can't surely be true.. I thought it was more like 3.5m
Guest RedLegend Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I think Bellamy is a good player who is just short on confidence. Pennant I'm not sure is good enough for the top level.
Guest RedIsMyColour Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Bellamy is having a bad spell much like Crouch last year and I can see him coming good shortly, just needs to get a couple of goals. Agree about Pennant, not only does he offer very little going forward, its laughable how scared he is of making a tackle.
Guest ziggystardust Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Why are you not in Brum stalking Anny Road restraining order
Maldini Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Another assist for Pennant tonight, he's not playing well, but he's still contributing. He's obviously very low on confidence. How about actually supporting the lad.

Falconhoof Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Don't agree at all. Bellamy was infuriating, absolutely clueless at times. He seems to be more concerned with how to hold his head in his hands and pull a childish grin every time he messes something up than getting on with the game. Focus, you inane idiot! The sooner he learns that the world doesn't revolve around him, and that you make your own luck by making the right decisions, the better. Waste of a shirt tonight. Pennant on the other hand, kept his cool, used the ball well and when he had space to run into he put a few good crosses in. Like Gonzalez on the other side I thought they had promising games.
Guest ziggystardust Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 sell bellamy in jan, he's s*** read the quote, i said bellamy will come good due to the fact he is a quality player, pennant is a major cause for concern. Nerik Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Pennant and Bellamy both did not play well but Bellamy was far worse. He missed 3-4 golden chances including a penalty. Both are low on confidence and I am sure both can improve significantly.

Hes only been here 3 months and hes done OK imo. He's no Nunez,Diouf or Cheyrou but he might get better ...
Spike Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I think tonights selection was to give our new lads more experience alongside a few old heads. as for the original post. Give it time FFS. I bet you're one of those that leave with 20 minutes to go if we don't do everything perfectly in 70 minutes.
Cobs Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 poor match all round but feck it, we're through which is all that matters. Bellers is just coming back after injury and looked rusty Penners didn't have a good game but he wasn't alone nothing Fowler tried came off all night either - just one of those nights, wouldn't read too much into it. disjointed performance but job done

Yes, give it time, Plenty of positives out there tonightGonzalez was electrifying in the run for the penalty. Dudek made some outstanding stopsAgger continues to show why he could one day be as good as £10 million rated wes Brown. The lad has everything.Peltier did his job well.Warnock was a lion at times...some of theose crunching tackles made me hope he could step up a level and do it every week.Zenden, played as well as he did in the charity shield, a timely return to form and I only worry that he loses confidence playing with the big boys.Pennant, a few flashes of pace and good crossing, seems to be getting there slowly. On the other hand...Bellamy was shocking, i'm not sure i have the patience to see him come good.
Bootle Buck Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Pennant is given the chance to go back to his old club and shine. Instead he ambles around the park with no conviction (pardon the pun) or game plan. He is no more than a Championship level player. Rafa won't give him much longer. Bellamy is trying too hard to make an impact in the games he plays, instead he is having a nightmare. He will have to relax wait his moment and then take his chances or his Liverpool career will be short-lived.
Eskimo Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Darke said that Rafa spoke to Pennant earlier in the week and told him to go for it a bit more and show less fear, or words to that effect...
Rimbeux Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Looks like you've got no choice but to get behind him and hope you're in the wrong
hideNseek Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Pennant will turn good, give him time. Bellamy just needs the iodd goal now and again. ^^^^him up there who mentioned Crouch had a bad patch last season. Bull, he was playing good, just not scoring, so it was hardly a bad patch.
Sion Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Bellamy has talent, but i've never seen Pennant give a sign throughout his career that he has the potential to be more than an average squad player for us. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but it's been like 12-15 games he must have played, and not once has he impressed so far.

I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but it's been like 12-15 games he must have played, and not once has he impressed so far.Selective memory, he was MOTM against Haifa and had a couple of other good performances. I don't know what the f*** is wrong with people lately, short term thinking about everything. He's been here 3 months, hasn't set the world alight, but hasn't been awful and he's being dubbed "one of the worst signings in 15 years" Cop the f*** on and stop embarrassing yourselves. We had this s**** last year with Crouch too. You may well turn out to be right, but at least give the lad a chance to prove himself before you start writing him off.
muleskinner Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Pennant does a few things each time I've seen him play that make me think he will be OK. Sissoko's injury should be the perfect oppotunity for him unless Rafa goes with Garcia wide(ish)right.
Swipe Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I don't think Pennant will be good enough for us. I expect Bellamy to come good, but i don't have the confidence in JP. Has to be said though, the worst LFC player tonight was Robbie. Shocking.
