Police blocking roads

Last Thursday, the police closed the Queensway Mersey Tunnel because a taxi driver had stopped his vehicle near the tunnel entrance and was sitting in his cab holding a knife and looking "distressed."

 

The tunnel traffic backed up into the city centre and in the end the whole of the city centre was paralysed. Thousands of people sat in the jam for hours.

 

The week before, some juvenile t*** attention-seeker was threatening to jump off the Queens Drive flyover at the Rocket. The police gleefully closed off Queens Drive, Edge Lane and the M62. Every road for miles around became a mass of motionless metal. I had left work in Bootle at 5.00 and got home at 8.00 - a 10 mile journey.

 

The police seem to be quite enthusiastic about jumping off their motorbikes in their jackboots in the middle of the road, and waving drivers away. When it is main arterial roads they are blocking off, they inflict misery on literally hundreds of thousands of people.

 

Somebody should remind local politicians that there would be votes in stopping the police doing this.
