Happy birthday Paddy 1973 - Patrik Berger was born in Prague. He struck 35 times in 196 reds games after his £3.25m capture from Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund in September 1996 following a successful Euro ‘96 with the Czech Republic, coming off the bench to help us claim the FA Cup, UEFA Cup and FA Charity Shield in 2001. However, he was later dogged by persistent knee trouble, and allowed to join Premiership new-boys Portsmouth on a free transfer in June 2003. 1981 – Sports Therapist Iván Ortega was born. He joined the reds in the summer of 2009 from Celta de Vigo, but moved o

Clinching the title 1982 - We claimed our thirteenth League title with a game remaining by beating Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 at Anfield, having been mid-table at Christmas. Ex-red Ray Clemence was in the Spurs goal, with Mark Lawrenson, Kenny Dalglish and Ronnie Whelan scoring past him after Glenn Hoddle had handed the visitors the lead with a glorious strike, one of his four against us. 1984 - Ian Rush was on target as we drew 1-1 with Norwich City, having won the League three days before at Notts County. Kenny Dalglish played his 400th reds game. Quadruple farewell 2004 - Emile Heskey

Happy birthday Spud 1977 - Danny Murphy was born in Chester. He arrived from Crewe Alexandra for an overall £3m fee in July 1997. Spud was nearly on his way out early into his Anfield career, but later established himself as a vital squad member. He made a total of 249 first-team appearances, notching 44 times, helping us to claim the UEFA Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FA Charity Shield before moving to Charlton Athletic for £2.5m in August 2004. Two-ton Rushie 1987 - Ian Rush bagged his 200th and 201st reds goals as we beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1, with ex-red Sammy Lee in the
