Happy birthday KHR 1965 - Karl-Heinz Riedle was born in Weiler. The German striker arrived from Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund for a £1.8m fee in July 1997, and struck fifteen times in 76 reds games, as well as having a positive influence on the young Michael Owen before joining Fulham for £200,000 in September 1999. 1900 – Full-back Jimmy Gray was born in Glasgow. The South African international signed from Transvaal in 1926 but only played one first-team game for the reds, a 2-1 home League defeat by Sheffield United in September 1928. The Doc is in 1976 – Ex-Blues forward David Johnson signed from Ipswich Town for a club record £200,000. He went on to win three League titles, European Cup, UEFA Super Cup and two FA Charity Shields, scoring 78 times in 213 reds games.
