Luis off the mark 2011 - Luis Suárez netted on his reds debut as a substitute to round off a 2-0 victory over Stoke City at Anfield. Raul Meireles had opened the scoring immediately after the break. Hodgson’s seventeenth 1935 - Gordon Hodgson scored his seventeenth and final reds hat-trick in a 4-2 League win at Leeds United, with Alf Hanson also netting. This remains a club record. Arthur Hydes struck the last two of his four goals against the reds that day. 1929 - We also faced Leeds, drawing 2-2 at Elland Road, with Jimmy McDougall and Albert Whitehurst bagging our goals, while B

Thumping the blues 1955 - Perhaps our most memorable game on this day came when we triumphed 4-0 at Goodison Park in the FA Cup Fourth Round, at a time when we were a division below the Blues, having been relegated the previous season. The goals came from Billy Liddell, Alan A’Court and a John Evans brace. Unfortunately, Huddersfield Town knocked us out at Anfield in the following round. 1944 - We also won there in a Wartime League fixture, with Berry Nieuwenhuys and Jack Balmer on target as we beat Everton 3-2, with Don Welsh netting from the spot. 1947 - We lost a top-flight encount

The birth of LFC 1892 - Club founder John Houlding signed the Certificate of Change of Name to alter the name of the club residing at Anfield from Everton Football Club and Athletic Grounds Company Limited to Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Company Limited. Welcome to Brucie 1981 - Bruce Grobbelaar signed for £250,000 from Vancouver Whitecaps. Our eccentric keeper played 628 times for the reds, helping us to six League titles, one European Cup, three FA Cups, three League Cups, three FA Charity Shields and Screen Sport Super Cup. Four for Mo 2018 – Mohamed Salah struck four times as we thumped Watford 5-0 at Anfield, which included his first hat-trick for the club. Roberto Firmino was also on target. Didi’s belter 2004 - Dietmar Hamann’s goal at home to Portsmouth was later voted as Match Of The Day’s Goal of the Season. Michael O
