In rides Crazy Horse 1947 - Emlyn Hughes was born in Barrow-in-Furness. ‘Crazy Horse’ played 665 times in his twelve years at Anfield after signing from Blackpool for a club record £65,000 in February 1967, netting 49 times and winning two European Cups, four League titles, two UEFA Cups, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup and two FA Charity Shields before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers for £90,000 in August 1979. Death of a true gentleman 2001 - Joe Fagan died aged eighty. He joined the coaching staff at Anfield in 1958, becoming Assistant Manager under Bob Paisley in 1974, before moving into the hot seat himself nine years later. In his first season as boss, he led the club to a unique treble of League title, European Cup and League Cup as we won 71 of his 131 games in charge.
