    Crystal smashed 1989 - Eight outfield players scored, a League record, in our 9-0 humiliation of Crystal Palace at Anfield. John Aldridge came off the bench to score a penalty with his first kick, in his final reds game. Glenn Hysén struck the first of his seven reds goals in this game.     Happy birthday Glen 1984 – Right-back Glen Johnson was born in Greenwich. He signed from Portsmouth for £17.5m in June 2009, striking nine times in 200 games for the reds, helping us to claim the League Cup and reach the FA Cup Final in 2012. After five successful years as a forward with Arsenal, Bob Paisley converted him into a left-sided midfielder following his club record £180,000 arrival as Bill Shankly’s last signing in July 1974.     The birth of a great keeper 1940 - Tommy ‘The Flying Pig’ Lawrence was born in Dailly, Ayrshire. The legendary keeper signed professional terms in October 1957 and played 390 times for us, winning two League title medals and an FA Charity Shield as well as being a member of the 1965 FA Cup winning side. He left the club in November 1971 to join Tranmere Rovers. 1929 - Centre-forward Louis Bimpson was born in Rainford.
