Kenny steps down 1991 - Kenny Dalglish announced his resignation as reds boss in a press conference at Anfield. Happy birthday Quasi 1961 - Peter Beardsley was born in Newcastle. He arrived at Anfield from Newcastle United for a British record £1.9m fee in July 1987, winning two League titles, an FA Cup and two FA Charity Shields, scoring 59 times in 175 games. He was controversially sold by Graeme Souness to Everton for £1m in August 1991. 2002 – Dutch defender Ki-Jana Hoever was born in Amsterdam.
