Barney Rubble signs on 1978 – Left-back Alan Kennedy signed from Newcastle United for £330,000. He is best remembered for his winning strikes in two European Cup Finals, but also won five League titles, four League Cups and three FA Charity Shields, making 359 appearances and notching twenty times before joining his hometown club Sunderland for £100,000 in September 1985. Redders off the mark 1991 - Jamie Redknapp scored his first reds goal as we held Southampton to a 1-1 League draw at The Dell. Alan Shearer had put the home side ahead with the first of his eight goals against the reds. In comes Igor 2000 - Igor Bišcan signed from Dinamo Zagreb for £5.5m.
