  1. Gays probably started existing. Although if we're going to badger Iran on such things the house of Saud looks well worse.
  2. Ahead of Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Genghis Khan, and the Belgians in the Congo, really? Watching this on the news, I noted many attractive Persian ladies in the welcome home parade for the president.
  3. Going to go for the ps4 I think it's hardware advantage is good and the Xbox hi stuff isn't enough to sway me.
  4. Did anyone else think Johnson was disgraceful today.
  5. Didn't listen to the interview did you, I could have told you that it was much more refined and considered view echoing many of the statements of those in this thread who identify with the anti capitalist sentiments of Russell brand. The man in question urged not to vote for Obama because he considers him part of the neo liberial orthodoxy. Not as a clarion call for McCain. I found it interesting. My arrogance is a personal trait not a result of my politics.
  6. Rather than Russell Brand you anti capitalists should listen to someone with a more considered view. Maybe this guy should have guest edited the new statesman, but then he probably wouldn't have sold as many copies as the man with a beard in a funny hat. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03hvn6n
  7. Used to love him, then just grew tired of him. I prefer laughing at comedians now.
  8. Has it taken him 3 weeks to come up with that?
  9. She weren't on it last night. Giles Frasier is on it now, bringing his brand of woolly nonsense for us all to marvel at.
  10. You got a source like? On the economy Growth forcasts up, unemployment down yet again and a suspicion that the cash assets of business may be put into the market as they feel more secure. Inflation is still too high.
  11. Ireland wasn't Neutral in WW1, 20,000 Irishmen died.
  12. To try and stop the largest party voted for from being in government.
  13. He's just a comedian, he's not trying to give answers just vague descriptions of problems innit.
  14. Eurogamer have had a look at Battlefield 4, on that the xbox one runs at 720, the PS4 at 900 and the PC utlra settings at full 1080.
  15. Who? I'm not sure anyone has suggested burning a man alive.
  16. You can't turn wind into petrochemical products. We're not going to make plastics with solar panels. We will still need gas and oil for products regardless if we produce all our energy through wind/solar/ tidal and nuclear.
  17. What does regime change mean for you here, because all are no longer part of the soviet Union half of them aren't properly functioning democratic states, and none of them bar Germany have the democratic freedoms and a meritocratic society even close to that of the UK.
  18. Cobs, the latest trial was on the premise that the Prisoners should be able to vote right now which was a slightly different issue from the EU ruiling that prisoners should not be denied votes forever. So while those two prisoners can not vote, there is still a bill going through Parliament that must grant prisoners voting rights after some period of time, enforced by the HRA. The Yugoslavian experience and the Russian experience post Soviet collapse got quite near with Yeltsin shelling the Parliament building. Serbia got slammed by NATO for their regime change. (what do we think on Kossovo, Civil war or no?) If you simply remove Parliament and destroy the democratic outlet I believe you would be on the edge of violence yes.
  19. The dissolution of Yugoslavia, the Balklands wars, Ukrainian corruption and counter coup under the banner of democracy with show trials, the destruction of Georgian territorial integrity, the same bunch of communists in charge of Bulgaria under a different name and a fully functional Polish, Czech democracy,. A lot of things, what's your point?
  20. I never said it was, it was however an extremely bloody affair. I'm disagreeing with you in that regardless of the popular mandate, the legal and constitutional framework does not allow parliament to simply abolish itself. It can transfer power perhaps but that would also require the ascent of the Monarch. I never said it was, it was however an extremely bloody affair.
