  1. I don't think you need to feel sympathy, but perhaps not so much ire.
  2. Now TV is £4.99 a month, if you have a PS3 or Xbox it streams right to your TV. Easier than sifting through Torrents I find.

It can be, but the use of moral language to condemn Russia then becomes vapid and hypocritical. We do sit aside and watch continually, the question about Kosovo is why we didn't. Why did we punish Serbia for actions similar to the Sri Lankan's actions to the Tamil's, how come we convinced ourselves one was a genocide and the other not. The language for the Kosovo action is is mirrored by Russian rhetoric in Crimea, territorial sovereignty can now be undermined by a self defined moral obligation "how can Russia stand aside and watch while Russian speakers are persecuted"
  4. So are tax thresholds and benefit payments. If you want to regionalise, do it across the board.
  5. This kind of thing, would we refer to other voter groups in such terms.
  6. Old people have as much a right to vote as anyone else, I don't like the insinuation that gaining votes from OAP's is somehow less valid.

How we claim it's immoral when the west have continually undermined national sovereignty in Iraq, Libya and Kosovo under the banner of humanitarian intervention. lets be honest the post cold war idea of borders being sacrosanct was brought down by the USA and UK, France not Putin. That said, I think a belligerent and expansionist Russia is a danger to the Stability and prosperity of Europe so I support Jack Keane's proposal to run NATO military exercises in Poland, Estonia etc to demonstrate our willingless to enact article 5. But we do need to deal with Russia, offer no further expansion of NATO or the EU and continual trade and diplomatic ties.

Interesting comment from the Spectator on the issue of the EU agreement about Ukrainian public support for the EU. http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/coffeehouse/2014/03/ukraine-polling-eu-vs-russian-integration-and-who-is-the-weakest-leader/ The removal of yanukovych is more suspect than our Politicians and Media would like to admit, and although the Far Right was instrumental in the "Protests" against him, Pip's idea that the current government are just Nazi's is a little over the top. Moral authority and legitimacy is weak for all sides at this point in time from a democratic perspective.

The US was entirely justified to go into Afganistan. they were attacked, they said to the Taliban hand over the group that attacked us and the Taliban refused, in the interests of self defence the invasion of Afganistan was necessary. Wether the mission creep to nation building was necessary is a separate argument.
  11. Episode 4 of True detective, that scene in the stash house, I've not seen much in the Cinema that has matched that level of cinematography, especially in a Police thriller. I love the new long form of TV storytelling, the depth of a novel with the visuals of the Cinema.
  12. With Chelsea losing, my anxious levels have exploded.

You can praise his tactics and still damn his strategy.

Kosovo, NATO invaded part of sovereign nation and then supported secession. Putin is using all the language of the modern NeoCon, humanitarian intervention and it's supposed legality under international law. That's what Russia really wants, no further EU initiatives either, if that was offered I suspect the "non Russian" troops would return to their barracks.

Depends who the UN troops belonged too, also the minor issue of Russia not using its Veto to prevent any UN action.

Russia has secured its bases in the Crimea and is exerting enough pressure to influence a future Ukrainian government, Looks like a foreign policy success so far. Some good points on the news this morning on why the USA response has been more aggressive than Europe, Germany gets 40% of it's gas from Russia for a start.

Firstly and importantly I'm from Dorset not Devon. Secondly I made no claims to expertise on Thailand, I've just applied ocams razor. If corruption is less apparent it follows there is less.
