    Coronavirus

I'm feeling more like me again today was in bed most of yesterday but seem to have more energy back today and chest has eased slightly. Heartbreaking scenes in Italy, we need to lock the UK down and enforce it https://www.facebook.com/100000996733964/videos/2853158921393971/ Look after yourself mate, take things easy.

Didn't they just outright lie that they are still testing everyone, or can i expect someone to get in touch now to test me retrospectively? Was floored and in bed most of yesterday with a temperature, bit better today, temp is down but this cough is horrendous still. Made the right decision keeping the kids home i think...2 weeks new advice by which time i reckon they will be all closed anyway. The Government clearly don't know what their doing...erm don't go the pub but pubs can erm stay open just in case people want to ignore us...madness.

That's mad, they should be testing you before sending you back. Hope you feeling better though mate. Think am gonna keep the kids away from school next week if i am self isolating then they will defo have it as well, just seems the responsible thing to do.

Yeah it is a bit, people with symptoms however mild should be allowed to take a test if they so wish in my view.

The Northwest primary care doctor just called me. Testing for people with suspected Coronavirus terminated yesterday as advised by Government officials. Anyone with symptoms should assume they have it and self isolate for 7 days, even if it is just a mild persistent cough as the likelihood is you do have it. If your symptoms or breathing difficulties worsen to the point you feel you need urgent hospital care then you should phone 111 or 999 for an ambulance, tests will only be carried out on people who have symptoms consistent with coronavirus and are that severe they have been hospitalised with it. She did say she didn't necessarily agree with the strategy but this is what they are being asked to implement moving forward and she isn't allowed to debate or give her personal opinion on it.

Yeah looks like they were not going to call me back at all . Issue for me is that if you get tested for it it even with mild symptoms and it's positive then it's black and white - you know you should isolate and act accordingly. Telling anyone with a cough or sniffle to self isolate without being tested won't work because most people will think 'ah i'm fine it's nothing' and carry on as normal. They are setting drive throughs up at Wallmarts in the US for people to get tested while we have a call tree answering service aimed at trying to deflect you speaking to anyone.

Called 111 again they are now saying they are not testing anyone with symptoms and to self isolate as per Government advice. Told them my employer is waiting to hear my results after being told yesterday i needed testing as i have been in meetings up and down the country all week and they need to let the people i have been in contact with know and also the offices/sites.....all feels a bit of a mess and irresponsible they are not testing people anymore.

Here's what my friend in Italy just replied to me with. I honestly think your government is insane, this virus is killing plenty of people in Italy, we're now living locked at home, only moving for emergencies. It's a nightmare, but it's necessary! I just think we are underestimating how this virus is being spread and could be hit hard by the consequences of not locking everything down sooner, we are assuming we can keep the most vulnerable people isolated but people who are infected and not yet showing symptoms are spreading this virus freely right now, probably to those most vulnerable people. Anyway i'm putting the kettle on now and having a lemsip.

Herd immunity is basically survival of the fittest if there is no vaccine isn't it? A cull of the weak. Bit of a long read but here is a translation of Italy's take on the governments strategy which a friend in Italy just shared on FB (yes i already have self isolation boredom it's only day 2!) "60 % of the population will have to contract Covid19 to develop herd immunity". Those are the words not a fool. Not a Nazi hierarch. But one of the highest health authorities of Boris Johnson's sovereign government. Practice is obscene: Darwinian, you let people get infected. The weak die. The strong survive. At the cost of hundreds of thousands of victims, mass immunity from the virus develops. It's to cringe. Really, cringe. Because the idea that the weak should be sacrificed for the strong, for the "herd", is not just something just repulsive: it is the death of man. It is the backward to an animal state that sees a cannibalism return to the most fragile. And destroying, erases, devours more than two millennia of human cultural and spiritual development. Let's look at this barbarism, at this monstrosity, and think about one thing: that we are in Italy. Many of those times we have said or heard about how things are better abroad. But excuse us, not this time. Not really. We believe it again this time. Because here, with all our limits, we will never reach such an aberration. Here we get vomit at the idea of sacrificing the most fragile to save us. Here a health advisor with such "ideas" would be kicked out by the executive. And we are proving this even now, right now that you are reading, with hundreds of thousands of people struggling like lions to tear the most fragile among our countrymen from death. Testimonials of enormous solidarity from everyone, doctors and healthcare workers who haven't slept in days. And, yes, the State proves it too, which is not as rich as that of our European cousins. Which is more scaly, less modern. But that despite this would never remotely consider such an aberration. And it's going through four to save everyone. All of them. Let's think about this then. We think that, despite everything, we are a great country, a great civilization. Let's think about it. And let's remember that for a long time. Let's remember that when outside Italy we were thinking about sacrificing the weak to save the strong, here the strong worked 12 hours consecutive shift to save the weak. And let's go back to being proud of our country for a change. Leonardo Cecchi

Haha, think 50 odd thousand of us did that on Wednesday at Anfield! Am paranoid the government have purposely stopped testing people so the can keep the reported figures low, wouldn't surprise me at all.

Okay thanks, slept okay but woke up to this dry cough again and sore throat, still can't shift anything off my chest, dull headache and bit of a stridor when breathing Don't feel like it's worsening though and not too lethargic or anything. Trying best to self isolate and keep the kids in check. Still not had callback from 111 not sure whether to give them a ring or wait, i don't want to clog the phone lines up but would like to know whats going on with getting tested.

I know mate i did question them on it, and they said yes until we have tested you they need to carry on as normal and you need to self isolate. I had a bit of a dry cough yesterday, woke up this morning really bad cough, temp and wheezy chest....could just be a chest infection or something though, won't know until tested. Thinking the symptoms vary so much in people it's hard to tell, which is probably one of the reasons it is spreading so quickly.
