when the mancs got relegated in 74 and their fans spent the following season travelling round the country en masse smashing up the smaller clubs of Div 2

That’s right. I remember when they came down to Cardiff and it was absolute bedlam. The whole city went on lock-down. The City fans were chomping at the bit to have a go at them. I think what was the match with the photo of the bloke with the dart in his eye.

Uprising is brilliant. As most things by Steve McQueen are - he's a genius.

I can remember that Summer. I’d missed the arson incident because I had just moved to the US. But I came crack for that Summer and it seemed like Britain was in a meltdown. The systematic racism at play was terrible, and that show gave you so many intricate details on it.

It’s weird. Down in my part of Cardiff we’ve always had a very integrated community and well established society and a pretty hands-off relationship with the coppers. Almost like a deliberate stand-off. Clearly it was very different in other parts of the UK.

  4.  “Uprising”. Steve McQueen documentary about the New Cross fire and the subsequent riots in the summer of 1981. Some eye opening stuff about how policing was in those days. You forget how bad it was. I can’t say it is better now, just different.

Also, “Muhammad Ali” - six hours by Ken Burns about the great man. Brilliant stuff.

  5. I have a recommendation. You can find this on YouTube or BBC Player (that doesn’t play in the US).  It’s called “A Killing in Tiger Bay”. True and tragic story from where I was born and brought up. I knew many of the people in it, including the woman who was murdered. She lived on the next block to me when I was young.

I knew two of the accused murderers too. It was an incredible miscarriage of justice and the longest murder case in British legal history.

Would that drawing generally show a screen if one were being incorporated?

I don’t think so Murph. This was specifically identified as the seating plan. I’ll have a good look at all the plans tonight though.
